HELLO, I’M ABEL Born a 29th January in 1991 during a sweet morning, I’m now a graduated architect from the National School of Architecture of Montpellier (ENSAM). Native to the south of France, I attach importance to local traditions through project design while maintaining a contemporary approach. Particularly interested in the issue of Smart City and Urban Agriculture, I like to keep a relationship between urban and architectural scales. In my view, the success of a project lies in the multitude of sensory experiences proposed and the «plus-value» generated.

I think all the best ideas come out of the process, they come out of the work itself. When I’m not working on a project, I like taking longs walks in the city with my camera. I truely think we must, as architects, experiment the city by our feet. I’m also a traveller, I love to discover the world and use it to find solution for projects. In my opinion, architecture is made of little pleasures, and the real luxury lies in the ambiance of space, not in a gold door handle.

HOUSING 8 Houses | Studio Mattes-Devaux In an urban context, these eight individual terraced houses are designed to maximize the notion of privacy. The ground-floor is in concrete and it’s topped by a openwork wood siding giving the ability to see without being seen. Private spaces all have a terrace hidden from public.

HOUSING 17 Apartments | Studio Cusy Located in the city center of Montpellier, the main idea was to give a maximum of outdoor spaces to each dwelling. Designed around a hidden garden, the project provides each apartment a lot of tranquility while promoting neighborhood life through the gardens.

CONSTRUCTIVE AMBIGUITIES Contemporary Art Center | Studio McKay Located in Lexington Kentucky and inspired by the work of Felice Varini, the art center is designed to change the perception of space for visitors. Using the techniques of anamorphosis, spaces intertwine to create optical illusions, creating the scenography of the museum.

DISRUPTIVE CONTINUITY Hybrid Library of tomorrow | Studio Summers The main idea is to create a building that is not simply a library, but also an attractive pole. Confined and controlled spaces are structuring a bigger space that is free, and containing the open/public parts of the program. The voids created by aggregation of the program boxes makes the presence of this free zone possible, creating a three-dimensional urban walks.

SOUTHERN METROPOLIS Embraer Headquarter and train station | Studio Brion Embraer is an aircraft manufacturer based in the city of Evora in Portugal. To maximize the responsiveness of its staff, the project is coupled to a train station and housing. The design is futuristic voluntarily to stick to the company’s ambitions. Developed as a symbol in the city, the project offers many public services and activities.

SOUTHERN METROPOLIS Cultural Center | Studio Nourrigat In a future context of rising sea level, cities are confronted with the massive influx of climate refugees. The project offers an urban alternative to house these new populations, and developing a new building symbol that makes the link between historic and new city through the notion of culture and heritage.

PERSONAL WORKS Realisation of a building permit of a villa in Cournonteral France.
