Friends and Colleagues, You are invited to participate in an important workshop on March 5, 2015 in Florianopolis presented by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). At this exclusive, 1-day event, you will join a strategic-level conversation among 15-20 of your CEO peers and provide input on the future of our industry through the DestinationNEXT initiative. Background on DestinationNEXT At DMAI we understand the significance of helping DMOs define the future of the tourism industry rather than simply being swept along in the mega-trends of today. What will tomorrow’s DMO look like? And how can today’s DMO leaders get their organizations on a path that preserves tourism benefits, secures their marketplace position, and engages their diverse community interests in the process? The vision of DestinationNEXT is to provide DMOs with practical, clear actions and strategies for sustainable success in a dramatically changing world. This road map will culminate with a number of co-created transformational strategies and DMO prototypes based on the specific characteristics of their communities and destinations. This initiative was made possible through a generous grant from the Destination & Travel Foundation. Learn more by visiting destinationmarketing.org/topics/destination-next. Why Participate In order to develop effective strategies, DestinationNEXT needs to capture the practical realities of different destinations and DMOs. Forward-thinking DMO leaders will provide critical input towards this goal. DestinationNEXT will include first, a self-assessment tool that DMOs can use to gauge their strengths and areas of opportunity. Second, based on the self-assessment, a series of recommended NEXTPractices will be available as a guide to help DMOs focus on priorities and strategies that will help them deliver greater value. Make your voice heard on both the scenario model and potential NEXTPractices. Take advantage of the workshop to: 1. Validate the overall approach and key metrics in the self-assessment scenario model; and 2. Have a strategic discussion about NEXTPractices and their value to specific DMOs. The workshop agenda as well as the Executive Summary for the Phase 1 report are attached. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to define the future of destination marketing, and have a first look at the strategies that will get us there. I sincerely hope that you will be able to participate in this important process. Please RSVP by February, 20 2015 to amviscasillas@gmail.com. We look forward to your insight and contributions. Sincerely,

Michael D. Gehrisch President & CEO
