= Degree in 4 years Build up your HNC/HND from D&A College to a degree at Abertay University. Starting at college and then finishing at university takes no more time to get your degree than if you’d started at university from the outset.
Four years of study: That’s four years in total at college and university to get a degree. You lose no time and SAAS will continue to pay your tuition fees, provided you meet their usual eligibility rules around funding. (Normally you get four years in total and have to keep passing). Dundee and Angus College and Abertay University can offer students this opportunity because we work together to make sure the content of our courses match each other in the first and second years of study. If you successfully complete any of the Dundee and Angus College courses on pages 2-4, you should be able to progress to the corresponding Abertay University degree programme.
The advantages are: • You get direct entry into Abertay - straight into year 2 if you have an HNC, or year 3 for a HND. • You don’t repeat any material. • You finish your Honours degree after four years in total (college and university together), exactly the same as if you’d started university from scratch.

We did it, so can you Cheryl Cheryl completed an HNC Computing course at D&A College and then joined Abertay in year 2 of its BSc (Hons) Ethical Hacking degree programme. She was the first in her family to attend university “The whole time I was at Uni I had to work. When I wasn’t at classes, I’d be away somewhere fixing computers. The tutors are brilliant and they have all worked in industry so they know their stuff and they teach you a lot - I’ve learned about computer systems I didn’t know existed. I’m now getting offers from cybersecurity head-hunters through all the time offering amazing money.”
Ryan Ryan completed an HND Computer Arts & Design course at D&A College and joined Abertay in year 3 of its BA (Hons) Computer Arts degree programme. Ryan graduated in 2017 and got a job quickly. “While I was at Dundee & Angus College I was coming into Abertay from time to time and getting to speak to students and some of the lecturers. I’ve got a job at MTC Media at City Quay, a creative agency based in Dundee and Edinburgh where I develop web design, branding, and other creative projects. I interned there last year while I was at Abertay.”

“I found that doing the college route was really beneficial because both Abertay and Dundee &

Angus College were great for different reasons. College got me prepared after coming out of school and that progression made me feel ready to come into third year. It was a really nice pathway and I got a qualification every single year.”
Roger Roger had an HND in Sports when he joined Abertay in year 3 of its BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning degree programme. He graduated in 2017 and went on to continue studying a Master’s at Abertay. Roger had always struggled academically. “I wasn’t going to apply for uni at all, but a guy who gave a presentation at my college talked about how his mindset had been changed, and I wanted to try it. I want to show people you don’t need to be that typical person who is good at everything and you can still do it, regardless of whether you come out of school with one higher.”
When do I have to make a decision? If you want to progress from HNC or HND into a degree at Abertay University, you have to apply though UCAS (www.ucas.com). The deadline for applications is 15 January every year, if you’re planning to join Abertay when the university year starts in September. That means you should start considering applying: • soon after you begin an HNC, as you’ll spend 1 year at D&A and 3 years at Abertay • at the beginning of year 2 of an HND, as you’ll spend 2 years at D&A and 2 years at Abertay. www.dundeeandangus.ac.uk
