Entry scenarios

The usual route to the top-up is the 120 credit ABE Level 4 RQF Diploma followed by ABE Level 5 RQF Diploma, however we recognised not everyone follows a typical pathway so here are some alternative scenarios.

I have an ABE Level 6 qualification

There are no additional exemptions, but Level 6 students have the academic advantage of having studied at the level required for the degree.

I have an ABE Level 5 qualification, but my Level 4 qualification is not from ABE

If your L4 qualification is from a valid organisation, this can be accepted - with your ABE L5 for entry onto the top-up.

My qualifications are not from ABE, can I still access the top-up

This top-up is exclusively for ABE qualification holders. You will need a minimum of an ABE Level 5 or 6.

I have an ABE Level 5 qualification but I do not hold any Level 4 qualification

To progress onto the UH top-up it is expected that students would normally hold two 120 credit qualifications. If you hold a L5 but no L4, we recommend you enrol on an ABE L6 Diploma as this will provide the best preparation for the top-up (alternatively you can enrol for L4).

I have an older ABE qualification

The University of Hertfordshire has mapped its degree against ABE's RQF framework, so it would normally require a minimum of one ABE RQF 120 Level 5 or 6 qualification.

If you have older qualifications, please email info@abeuk.com with details of your qualifications and work experience for further advice.
