The Zero product family of flooring materials have always been environmentally and user-friendly, due to being made from our innovative PVC-free flooring material Enomer®. It features a mineral based construction, thermoplastic polymers, and an ionomer reinforced surface treatment, creating products easy to maintain and extremely resistant to both staining and scratching.

Now with an increased focus on reducing the environmental footprint – in combination with still being an outstanding flooring choice for public spaces with high safety requirements - we are proud to introduce the next generation of Kährs Zero produced with 100% renewable energy, reducing the CO2 footprint of Zero Sheet by 32%.

All products in the Kährs Zero Family contain up to 50% recycled content including our newest member of the Zero-family: the Nordic Swan Eco-labeled Zero & GREEN which in addition contains bio-based polymers.

A MORE SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

Kährs Zero floorings are a sustainable choice made from safe raw materials such as natural minerals, virgin clean thermoplastic polymers as well as recycled granulates, and in the case of NEW Zero & GREEN also bio-based polymers. The environment has been considered at every stage of the development and the production is now energized by 100% renewable energy reducing the CO2 impact by Zero Sheet with 32%!

DESIGN AND COLOR

The outstanding quality and extensive range of colors, along with subdued patterns makes Zero flooring materials inspirational and easy to use in any interior design. Matching colors in all members of the Zero family: Zero & GREEN, Zero Sheet and Zero Sound, enables you to mix and match and create patterns and designs. You also have the possibility to create designs by laser-cutting all Zero-products.

APPLICATION AREAS

With the unique properties of Enomer® (see page 5), Kährs Zero is perfect for in-door spaces subject to heavy wear-and-tear and with specific needs regarding cleanliness and easy maintenance. Each member of the Zero-family meets different requirements providing a complete solution when combined for spaces with high safety requirements such as within Healthcare and Education facilities.

RESPONSIBLE DESIGN

From the initial investment cost to end-of-life Kährs Zero provides a low life-cycle-cost, including the cost of installation, operational and maintenance. This is due to the fantastic properties of the Enomer® material and in part to its durable and dense, easyto-clean surface requiring no polishing or dry buffing as it has an ionomer reinforced surface. Being PVCand phthalate-free Kährs Zero promotes clean and healthy indoor air fulfilling all emission requirements made on flooring.

Enomer® is an innovative flooring material developed by then Kährs Upofloor, today Kährs. Made from natural minerals and pure polymers, the material provides excellent performance characteristics, without compromising on the consideration of the environment or human beings.

A SAFE CHOICE PROVIDING CLEAN INDOOR AIR

Made from natural minerals and pure polymers, Enomer® is a mineral based construction (calcium carbonate i.e., chalk) with thermoplastic polymers (whereof 40% are bio-based in Zero & GREEN) with an ionomer reinforced surface treatment. This unique combination of ingredients provides properties not found in any other flooring material:

As a product containing both recycled and bio-based material Zero & GREEN has fulfilled the demands required by the Nordic Swan on floor coverings to be certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel:

• The flooring material needs to have a high proportion of renewable and/or recycled materials

• It needs to meet stringent requirements on chemicals harmful to health and the environment

• The flooring material should guarantee low emissions and a good indoor environment

• It should be manufactured energy efficiently

• The flooring should have good durability

LRV VALUES

To show compliance and understanding of various building regulations within hospitals, schools and the commercial environment, one can use LRVs. It represents a relative light and dark value rather than an actual color.

LRV measures the percentage of light a color reflects, forming a universal value for contrast expressed on a scale of 1 - 100, with 1 equaling absolute black and 100 equaling absolute white. That is, a color’s Light Reflectance Value (LRV) measures the amount of visible and usable light that reflects from (or absorbs into) a surface. The higher the value obtained, the greater the amount of light that is being reflected.

The typical optimal choice for everyday design considerations are LRVs between 9 and 75. The European Equality Act 2010 requires a 30 point difference between floors and walls to assist in the safety of people with disabilities.
