Statement of Purpose To know ourselves, we need to know more specimens of us and how they relate to the earth, our bodies, beliefs, and mythological stories. These mythological stories then go on to become political narratives. Mind and how it perceived the surroundings is what evolves the world differently in different regions. Geographies, genealogy, cultures develop, practices start their performance while stories keep Chinese whispering until the core elements of the tale evaporate with our ancestors. Each piece of new information pushes me to peek in all what’s there for us on our planet and beyond. We are so different from each other yet belong to the same species. Evolution has its own pace to modify and regenerate what already exists. It has the reasoning required to break out from a secured shell to grow stronger and wiser - into a new world - each time closer to the core of our being. Architecture allowed me to experience on-site work for Heritage Conservation projects across India. Whereas Masters in Advanced Architecture got me working on futuristic concepts and prototypes. Working with peers from over thirty countries, an insight into their culture, and way of thinking & approaching a concept. The respect &encouragement given to the freedom of thought poked me more to give up on my innumerable ‘what ifs.’ With the support of my friends, I started presenting my poetry in Barcelona. Sharing vulnerable thoughts out there felt like cracking more shells of inhibitions. The city being a melting pot of culture, gave me a sense of realization of what I genuinely want to pursue. A continuous un-learning, learning, and self-discovering faiths and beliefs became an ongoing process. The effect of storytelling and that transcends from script-to-visual medium has affected me in numerous ways. Like Film-making, Architecture is an umbrella too under which many disciplines converge. Thus I feel I might be able to grasp the process and aspects of film-making and the paraphernalia that resides around it with a clearer understanding. Writing thoughts in my diary helps me ebb the fog that might have settled upon some of them. While I try to learn from self experiences and introspection, I have always looked up to individuals who strive to envision something that hasn’t been seen or created before. Why do I want to work with Nitin Sir and Team Being smitten after watching TUMBBAD, I was excited to learn about its making. I came across the interview involving Art Direction. The process of creating the materialistic and physical world of a story is similar to that of Architecture. The energy of the Art Team while diving deep into the smallest of the details of filling the mini jewllery boxes with accessories that resembled the time and era is stupendous. Working from Micro to Macro detailing is a part and aparcel of Architecture. Your team’s work has been showcasing qualitative precison and it would be an honor to be a part of it, learn, and become an assest to the team while working on a film and developing its spaces and architectural essence. I am glad Amrendra Singh guided me and helped me in getting touch with you and your team. Stories that grew on me: Tumbbad, Apocalypse now Redux, Mank, Avatar, Interstellar, A death in the Gunj. Web Series: Black Mirror, Love Death Robots, Game of Thrones, Queen’s Gambit, The Crown, Fleabag, Rick and Morty, Made in Heaven and more. Documentaries: Into the Inferno, (Werner Herzog admirer) Hearts of Darkness, Supermen of Malegaon, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Art of Protest, The Most Unknown - To name a few.
