Statement of Interest I have always been amazed by how unique building designs and landmarks are able to attract one’s attention. With a desire to provide a compelling experience for others, I am inspired to venture into a career path where innovation and imagination are boundless. The field of architecture is something that I felt would help me achieve my passion and I believe that the program offered by Laurentian University and their location suits my style of learning and will give me an opportunity to be a successful individual. I was passionate about drawing and building since my early childhood as I was fascinated by the endless ideas of structures I could create with my toys. This passion further grew once I started high school with the Sci-Tech Regional Program as I got more opportunities through projects to build my interest and showcase my creativity. I believe that the field of architecture will not only allow me to design unique structures and use my imagination but it will also give me a chance to positively impact societies in the future. I am aware that architecture is a very challenging and niche field but the satisfaction of completing a project will be everlasting. Despite being a new school, the McEwen School of Architecture has a good educational curriculum which allows students to complete unique projects such as the ice station and the birch banks canoes, within the first two years. These projects provide not only a fun and creative learning experience but it also considers the rich aboriginal culture and history behind the structure. As you might see in my portfolio, I have completed a few projects that involve woodworking and I hope to further use and improve these skills in the woodworking competition that Laurentian University is involved in. I am also impressed by the opportunity that the university provides its students to study abroad and the co-op program that allows one to further develop their work and learning experience. Moreover, Laurentian University in itself, is located in a very environmentally friendly community because of its surroundings being a vast conservation and the freshwater lakes. This completely suits my lifestyle as I enjoy hiking along trails and exploring nature. The access to such a natural therapist will also allow me to relieve stress and experience peace away from a hectic schedule. Living in Sudbury will also be a unique experience as I have never lived in a smaller city. However, Sudbury is also known to have a lot of festivals and events which provides chances of becoming more involved in the community. Taking everything into account, the architecture program offered at Laurentian will not only provide sufficient tools for me to pursue an architect career but it will also help build me as an individual with a rich understanding of culture and history of a society. The passion, hard work, and collaboration experience that I bring with me will allow me to succeed in this program. I therefore request you to allow me purse my undergraduate program and polish my skills at Laurentian University.

Khalid Pencil Sketch Dec, 2019 9 x 12 Khalid is a young boy from Africa whose favorite color is white. I hope I was able to lift his spirit and contribute to his well-being.

Ōkami Pencil Sketch 2018 9” x 12” A sketch of a wolf’s head that I named Ōkami, which means wolf in Japanese. Cardboard Chair Cardboard 2019 1020mm x 560mm x 760mm My project partner and I designed and built a life-sized cardboard chair, without using glue or tape, that can hold up to 170 pounds.
