It is a welcoming change to see that the Economist is now praising the shine and glory of Gujarat. Till now, they were deliberately ignorant towards the visible progress made by the state of Gujarat, that often awes many. The magazine continuously criticised the state and drew narratives from the Godhra incident, which has of course earned its due justice. However, recently the Economist carried an article in its July 9th edition suggesting Gujarat as India’s Guangdong, a Chinese province famous for industrial locomotive.

Gujarat by this most widely read weekly has
always been opposed by Asian Voice and Gujarat Samachar. It was never taken into consideration, but the rapid progress by the state has now compelled “The Economist” to change their views. It is a pleasure to see Gujarat being acknowledged for its due, after decades. At last they see the shine, sheen, speed, spunk and success of Gujarat under the leadership of Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Continued on page 26

The daily newspapers have reported that murder suspect Shrien Dewani allegedly sent texts plotting to kill his wife - while she was sitting next to him looking at honeymoon photos, after Channel 4 broadcasted the Dispatches programme on Monday 8pm. Zola Tongo alleged that Shrien (pictured) negotiated on his mobile phone to kill his Swedish-born bride Anni, 28, as they were chauffeured from a South African safari park.
