Research

Research and product validation is another key area that sets ABS apart from other genetic suppliers around the globe. Progeny testing is not new to ABS, we’ve been pioneers in real world progeny evaluation since the early 1960s. Validating the programs and genetics we offer is a high priority and we currently have research trials being conducting at Hy-Plains Feedyard, KS., Cactus Feeders, TX., The Bair Ranch, MT., and Oklahoma State University, OK. In addition, ABS works with numerous progeny test herds around the globe that allow us to test and prove the genetics we offer our customers. This ensures ABS programs and genetics will work for our customers and that they will add value from Pasture to Plate.

Technology

ABS also prides itself on a long history of innovation in cattle genetics and reproduction technology. FULTON RANCH MILLER, SOUTH DAKOTA

The Fulton Ranch originated in 1948 when Harley Fulton bought land and moved his family from Texas to South Dakota. The cattle are managed by Mark, his wife, Susan and their children, Lane, Hallie and their families. Fulton Ranch is a commercial cow/calf operation that retains ownership and finishes their own cattle. They were first introduced to ABS Representative, Marc Kleinsasser, and District Business Manager, Merlyn Sandbulte trained Mark in A.I. school. In 2008, ABS gained the business when Mark wanted better cows and successful pregnancy rates with A.I. Early on, they used genetics and synchronization to improve uniformity, disposition and udder quality. With expert service from the Kleinsasser’s, ABS has assisted the Fulton team to A.I. the majority of the Fulton herd for the past twelve years. ABS has assisted in developing their breeding plan of rotating one bull every two years. Today, Fulton Ranch’s goals are to use the best bulls to make better females and steers with high value carcasses. ABS has assisted with reliable reproduction knowledge and strong genetics.
