Letter from the V.P. Deborah Wright

One kind word can warm three winter months. - Japanese Proverb

The winter schedule will always mark my annual anniversary as I started with A-B Tech in January 2020. Marking my second year with the college, it is hard to overlook the impact of both of those years being touched by a pandemic. More importantly it is hard to overlook the incredible work of the staff here at the college across the campus, but specifically those I work with regularly in our division.

Thank you to the staff and instructors for their creativity and flexibility in finding new formats in which to deliver classes while we worked to keep everyone in a safe environment. Many of the online courses that were created are now a regular part of our expanded course offerings.

And also thanks to all of our students! I want to give a special shout out to our Barber Academy students who stayed the course and finished despite all the challenges over the last year. We are so proud of you, our first cohort, coming into the home stretch. And to our CNA students who constantly line up to assist our medical community with much needed nursing assistants. We see you and thank you for stepping up to serve. We were excited this past summer to welcome two new full-time instructors to help in this area.

This schedule is just one of the many examples of the hard work, energy, and dedication of our staff, to serving all of you in our community. Think of this not just as a list of courses, but as a book of opportunities that has been carefully cultivated to provide you with a variety of options to get through the coming winter months. Behind the scenes there have been many meetings, phone calls and negotiations by the staff to submit these to you in the hope that you will drop by and take a course or two.

I have had an incredible two years, working with an incredible staff. If one kind word can warm three months, then I would like to give them two – THANK YOU!

Deborah D. Wright Vice President, Economic & Workforce Development and Continuing Education
