Principal’s Message Dear Warrior Families-

iors of Exce r r a llence W

We have so many exciting events planned for our students as we progress to the end of the 2014-15 school year! We are anxiously looking forward to Graduation for the amazing Class of 2015. Graduation is a wonderful, special time and we plan to celebrate in spectacular fashion! We hope you can join us on Saturday, May 28th at 8:00 p.m. at Woodstock First Baptist Church for a truly awesome event! In addition, our prom committee has been hard at work to plan another extraordinary event for our upperclassmen and their guest on April 11th at the Fernback Science Center. Fernbank is my favorite prom location, our juniors and seniors do not want to miss this amazing event. I want to send out special congratulations to our amazing juniors who were named as Key Scholars during this school year! We are so proud of our many academic teams who have been amazing this year including: our Mock Trial Team, Academic Bowl team, Science Olympiad Team, Math Team, Science Fair competitors, Social Science Fair participants, PTA Reflections entries and Young Author’s Fair winners at the region, district and state levels! We are very proud of the gains in academic achievement shown by our students! Our students are working very hard to prove that we are Warriors of Academic Excellence! We continue to celebrate exceptional SAT and ACT scores that are well above the state and national average! In addition, we are proud of our students who have completed the Princeton Review ACT/SAT prep sessions! We hope that you can join us for some spring sports! We have very exciting Soccer and Baseball seasons shaping up for the spring. Cherokee Warrior Tennis for boys and girls is in full swing! Our Warrior Lacrosse has started out strong with a group of talented players. Our track team continues to shine with a group of stellar athletes and expectations are high AGAIN for our Golf teams to prove to the state that we are WARRIORS in every sense of the word. As we head into Spring, testing season is upon us! The New Georgia Milestone test will be introduced this year replacing the End-of-Course Test. We will also have AP Testing and Final Exams scheduled for May. It is important for our students to do their best on these rigorous tests! Please continue to encourage your student to study each night and to seek assistance with tutoring if needed. We want to make sure each student is prepared and ready to do his/her best! We very much appreciate your support of Cherokee High School! We will look forward to continuing our partnership to ensure the best possible education for our students! Go Warriors! Sincerely,

CHS Rescue Warriors

The CHS Rescue Warriors would like to spotlight the amazing work done every day by Iron Gait Percherons Rescue in Waleska. Because our Cherokee County Animal Shelter is not properly equipped to care for abused and neglected horses, our dear friend Denise Polydor, the founder of Iron Gait Percherons Rescue, gladly came to our assistance back in 2013 and is STILL caring for some of the horses and foals seized in that case. Because they were kind enough to take at least 7 of the rescued Saddlebreds that came to the shelter a year and a half ago. If it weren’t for Denise and her amazing staff of volunteers, it is certain that the three foals and two pregnant mares would not have survived. As you can see from the pictures, not only have they survived, they have THRIVED and been adopted by loving families, some of whom are CHS Warriors!! Our Warrior Family (and any other animal lover) can follow them on Facebook and other social media as well. Here is a link to one of their latest videos, posted on Facebook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0fYh8_pC58
