APRIL/MAY IMPORTANT EVENTS • Awards Night for Senior’s is May 18th at 6:00pm with Scholarships Ceremony immediately following. • Deadline for Bright Futures Community Service Hours for Senior’s is May 29. • Deadline for FLVS courses for seniors is May 15. • Yearbooks will arrive the first week of May and will be distributed on a day designated by the administration. There are only about 60 books left to sell. The cost is $75 and needs to be cash only at this time. • Prom is May 9 at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal. Tickets are currently being sold; see LMHS website for details. • Students, it is important that you take your CTE course Certification tests. Certification test can help a student not only to become employed, but can assist you in getting into higher education courses. It may be one more test to take, but it is so important to your futures in making sure you are C2ready.

The mission of Lake Minneola High School is to empower students to achieve academic success by graduating from high school prepared for post-secondary education or meaningful employment.


The Commencement Ceremony for the Lake Minneola High School Graduating Class of 2015 will be on the 29th day of May at 8 pm in the Hawks Athletic Complex.

FLORIDA STANDARDS ASSESSMENT Dear Parents, If your child is enrolled in one of the following courses he or she will be required to take the Florida Standards Assessment for that course in the Spring of 2015: • • • •

Algebra 1 Geometry Algebra 2 9th, 10th or 11th Grade English Language Arts

Families are encouraged to take advantage of the information and resources available on the Florida Standards Assessments portal (www. FSAssessments.org) and the FDOE website (www.fldoe.org). More resources will be made available throughout the 2014–2015 school year, so parents and students should check these websites regularly for updates. On FSAssessments.org is a Training Test. Use the following link to access the test. http://fsassessments.org/ training-testsYou may sign-in as a guest, select the appropriate grade level from the drop-down menu and choose the appropriate training test.


BEHIND-THE-WHEEL DRIVING INSTRUCTION For Lake County High School Students The Lake County School Board, in partnership with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, is offering scholarships for Behind-theWheel Driving classes to eligible Lake County high school students. To be eligible, a student must be a resident of Lake County, currently attend high school or be a registered home school student, have proof of automobile insurance and possess a valid Florida learner license at least one week prior to the first day of class. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are not based on financial need. Program features include: • Students participating in the BTW program will receive10 hours of actual behind-the-wheel driving instruction and 20 hours of driving observation. • Classes originate from a Lake County Public High School or the Career-Technical, Adult & Community Education office in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Classes are held on weekday afternoons, Saturdays and during selected school breaks. • BTW instructors are Lake County School District teachers who are certified by the State to provide driving instruction. • Vehicles used for Behind-the-Wheel driving classes are clearly marked “student driver” and have an additional brake for the instructor. • Students are assigned to classes of three students on a first-come, first-served basis and must have a valid Florida learner license and proof of automobile insurance to participate.
