Principal’s Message Hello TEAM LANCER, Each day before we say the pledge of allegiance, I say, “Good Morning Team Lancer!” With our uniform initiative firmly in place, school spirit abounds, and we are truly one team. An average of 90% come to school in uniform each day. Uniforms promote an academic environment and a positive school culture. The impact is evident as you walk through our campus. We have gained instructional time with the absence of dress code violations; the students feel a sense of pride. Tardies and all discipline offenses are significantly down. Students do have choices in the uniforms. Any Lockhart T-Shirt can be worn – including all club and athletic shirts from our school. Our AVID students just designed a shirt, and many more clubs plan to show off their team spirit. We are selling shirts and polos in the front office. Parent and community involvement is one of our missions. There are so many ways to stay connected throughout the year. Our Facebook page can send you instant updates and photos. ProgressBook can send you text messages or emails if your student misses an assignment. Teachers send out weekly email updates, and I also send frequent school messenger updates via phone and/or email. It is vital that we have your current contact information. If you are not receiving messages, please call the front the office and have them check. Lockhart is strengthening our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program with the expansion Project Lead the Way, a nationally recognized engineering program. We have a three year plan to make more STEM classes available. Our Fall and Spring parents nights will be STREAM nights – adding Reading and Arts. We want to focus on the whole child, and these nights will showcase how our departments work together to give students exposure to many fields. We hope to see you there. Thanks so much to our strong and growing PTSA and newly formed SAC committee. Please come to meetings. We welcome your voice. As always, if you have any questions or comments, contact the school at 407-296-5120. It is truly an honor to serve the Lockhart community. GO LANCERS! Sincerely, Allison Kirby Principal
