PA PRESS Letter from the Principal First let me say that it is an honor to be the Principal of Nease High School. We have done many things together this year and the parents, students and staff are truly a family that cares for one another and wants the best for all students. I am looking forward to the great things that will happen here next year! As we go to print with this newsletter, we are winding down the current school year (2014-2015) and preparing for next school year (2015-2016). This year has brought many changes to Nease High School including things like additional relocateables and approval for a new building on campus. These have been great additions to our school! As you have read in the news, there have been many changes due to legislation from the State level. This includes the level of rigor required in classrooms with the Florida State Standards along with maintaining the Class Size Amendment. Because of this continued focus, electives will continue to stay trimmed for next year so there will be little room for schedule changes. Unfortunately, students may not get their first or second choices. The good news is that through legislation we will be getting some relief from the testing requirements. Those changes will be coming in the next couple of months.

Nease JROTC is #1 in Northern Florida & State of Georgia PONTE VEDRA – Nease Navy JROTC won the Area 12 Drill Championships on March 7 in Douglas, Georgia – thereby receiving an automatic invitation to the Navy National Drill Championships. Nease competed against the top 16 Navy high school JROTC drill teams in Area 12, which includes all of northern Florida and the state of Georgia. Sixty NJROTC programs competed at local drill meets during the fall and winter with the top 16 advancing to the Area championships. Nease earned its berth by winning first place at both the Mandarin HS and Terry Parker HS drill competitions earlier.

“It was a total team effort,” said cadet battalion commander Jack Kahlbaugh. “Our athletic, academic and drill teams picked the right moment to deliver their best performances.” In addition to winning the overall drill meet championships, Nease claimed first place in Personnel Inspection; second place in overall drill; and third place in overall athletics. Each of the unit’s five marching drill teams claimed trophies at the podium for their outstanding performances.

Cadet Brandon Cummings reports the Nease drill team is ready for Personnel Inspection – the unit claimed first place in this event. The Nease Unarmed Basic Drill Team performs during the Area 12 Championships – the team claimed 2nd place in the event.
