Steps to help your child study at home

Page 1

7 simple steps to help your child/student ACTUALLY study: This is a pre-reading activity: Step 1 – Title – Ask them what the title tells them about? Step 2 – Headings- Ask them to scan the headings and subheadings than tell you about what they will be reading. Step 3 – Introduction – Ask them if they already know anything about the topic from reading the introduction? Step 4 – Every 1st Sentence – Ask them to tell you what each topic sentence is in each paragraph? Step 5 – Visuals and Vocabulary – Ask them how the visuals relate to the content and what they learned from them? Ask them if there is a list of key words with definitions and which ones they already know the meaning and which ones they do not. Step 6 – End of Chapter Questions – Ask them what the questions are and where can they find the information. Step 7 – Summary – Ask them what the important concepts were they learned. *Now they would complete the reading assignment in full.* To download and copy this article click on the link https://www.dropbox.com/home/Natalie%20M./Content%20for%20Schools?preview=THIEVES.pdf
