FROM THE PRINCIPAL Hello University Cougars! I am so excited to be a part of the University High School family and I am looking forward to an exciting year. I have been in Orange County Public Schools for over 30 years. My career began in the classroom as an ESE teacher serving at both the middle and high school level. I then decided to make the move to administration and served as an assistant principal for eight years and have now been a principal for twelve years. My husband is also an OCPS administrator and my two children are entering grades six and seven. They are very excited to attend the wonderful activities and events at UHS, so you will see them around. Soon I will be meeting with the Student Government, PTA, PTSA and SAC so that I may find out what is important in the culture of University High School. I wish to maintain those traditions which are a vital piece of the UHS community. I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer! Dr. Anne Carcara

GO COUGARS! Partner’s in Education

SAC

At University High School, home of the Cougars, we want to focus on building positive partnerships within our surrounding communities. Our goal is to make every student college ready, regardless of whether they choose that path or another for their future. We can only make this possible with the support of the community that provides for the school. If you are interested in becoming a partner, then contact Ryan Barth at ryan. barth@ocps.net .

The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets on the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the SAC is to assist in the development of the school improvement plan. Current projects include recruiting volunteers for ADDitions so that we can increase academic student support. Please register at http://volunteer.ocps.net/. Tentative agenda items for this semester meetings include: • Review of SIP activities • Review of school data • Review of school effectiveness survey results All meetings are open to public. We need representatives for students and business/community. IF you are interested in serving, please send an email to Nan Palermo at nancy.palermo@ocps.net.
