Importance of Acknowledging Other Indigenous Communities Although Acadia University is located within unceded Mi’kmaw territory, not all Indigenous peoples within our University community are Mi’kmaq or from Canada. It is equally important to recognize their rich histories and cultures as well, and recognize that their unique perspectives and worldviews may also assist us in understanding the world around us.
