HELLO BABY!
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy. I can’t wait to meet them and to capture this fleeting time in your families life. Enjoy them while they are small, as they won’t stay this way for long. I am honoured to be able to capture what is such a special time for you and your family. I love photographing newborns (and of course getting a few baby cuddles as part of the deal). A photo is something that stops a moment in time. To help us remember how we felt...right at that point of our lives. I love to create a piece of art, so my clients can cherish every part and moment of their newborn - from their squishy lips, and soft wisps of hair, to their tiny hands and feet. In years to come, my hope is that, these images will take you back to the days when your newborn was small enough to fit snuggly in your arms, and the days when you rocked them to sleep against your chest. I’ve created this magazine to serve as a means for answering so many of the questions you might have. Never let this be a reason to not give us a call though. YOUR SESSION Newborn sessions ideally need to be photographed within the first two weeks of life. The golden ideal time is between 3 and 9 days, but don’t worry if you can’t get a session scheduled within that time - we can definitely still get stunning shots of your little one outside the two week period, but just know that it might take longer, and some of the cute poses you have seen may not be possible. Contact us as early as you can once baby is here, and we can sort out a time that suits. Our sessions take place in your home. I understand that with a new baby, things can get hectic, and you are probably a bit sleep deprived, so it is our aim to make the process as simple and easy for you as possible. We will bring an assortment of props and backgrounds with us, and will find the perfect place within your home to set this up. By coming to your home, we can capture not only the stunning posed shots you’ve seen, but some lifestyle ones of the whole family interacting, as well as the nursery you spent weeks preparing. This allows us to tell the whole story of your newborn. We would love to photograph you with your baby (only if you want this), Now I understand that you are tired and probably not feeling your best, but you can take some time for yourself while we are getting some shots of your little one, to sort out your makeup and perfect outfit. Your baby will never fit in your arms in the quite the same way that they do at this moment, so it really is a stunning thing to capture - and are often some of my clients favourite photos in the end. On the day of your session if you can try and keep them as active as possible in the hour or so before we arrive, and then feed them just before we get there, that would be great. This way they are more likely to drift off to sleep easily.
What to expect Pretty much anything can happen during your newborns session. It’s just one of those things that we can’t predict. It’s our hope that your baby will sleep through their session. But, maybe they won’t. Don’t worry! We’ll take our time and we have lots of tricks to help get them calm and relaxed. Ideally we’d like the house nice and warm so your baby is as snug as a bug!
We may ask you to step in to help us for a few poses. You see, some of those amazing shots are composites. The safety of your baby is important to us.
Chances are that your wee one will have an accident on our blankets. It’s really okay. We’re used to it - its a hazard of the job with naked babies around. We wash everything after each session.
photograph baby before we do any of your family portraits. So, we just ask that you sit and relax. Heck, even take a nap if you want! You deserve it! Then, when we’re ready we’ll have you change clothes or step in for some family portraits.
Baby will probably get hungry, and this is normal. I mean, it’s so much work being cute and posing! We’ll let you know if we think you should feed them in hopes that it will help get them back to sleep again.
When we’re all done you can bundle up your sweet pea and expect to get an e-mail from us within a couple of weeks, to arrange a viewing and ordering session. But, check our Facebook! You might see a few sneak peeks there, too.

AFTER YOUR SESSION Around two weeks after your session we will have your photos ready to view at your in home ordering appointment. We will visit you at a time that is convenient, to go through your images, show you our products, and help you get the perfect pieces of art to display in your home. If you’re looking to put something on the wall, we are able to take a photo of the space where you are thinking of hanging something. This will show you exactly what your photos will look like displayed there, before you even buy. There is no pressure to order anything, and remember you have $100.00 as part of your session fee to spend on anything you wish. Can’t wait two weeks - well we know the feeling as we generally can’t wait that long to show you your photos either. Growwith me! One of the things we enjoy more than anything at Accent Photography is seeing your baby grow. Therefore, we invite you to take advantage of our Grow With Me plan. Let us photograph your baby during their first year of life. It all starts with their newborn session. Then, we will see you again at 4 months, 8 months and 1 year. These are perfect opportunities to see changes in growth of your newborn. At the very end, we’ll have a fun cake-smash session to celebrate their one year birthday.

Albums Your baby is beautiful, and if you are having the hardest time choosing the poses for your home and office, may we suggest one of our gorgeous, archival quality coffee table albums? Each album has a beautiful, custom designed cover featuring your favorite photo, and includes multiple photos from your session. Alternatively order our Grow with Me package and get an album that covers their entire first year - when they are changing the most. We also offer small accordion albums, which are perfect to carry with you everywhere, and to gift to your family and friends.
Memory Box Not keen on the traditional album, or want to receive multiple prints to display on an easel or in frames around your home - then look no further than our memory box. This box contains 10 of your favourite images ,matted and ready to be inserted into frames. The box also has some room to include other small mementos from your littles one’s life - such as hospital bracelets,and birth announcements etc.
