ABOUT THE GM - Sandy Crothers

My name is Sandy, I’ve been the General Manager at The Sebel Busselton since November 2017. I moved from Melbourne with my husband Steve, 2 daughters Olivia & Jessica and our dog Alfie.

I started with Accor in 1998 (when I was only a child!). I have worked at Novotel St Kilda, Grand Mercure Flinders Lane, Mercure Inn Port Hedland and Mercure Inn Kalgoorlie before transferring to Accor Vacation Club. I then managed Grand Mercure Pinnacle Valley Resort for 3 years before moving to Melbourne to manage The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane for 10 years. I then made the move back to the West to manage The Sebel Busselton where I am now.

I love that our resort is located in one of the best parts of Australia, right on Geographe Bay and on the door step of the Margaret River region. The resort caters to all demographics; families, couples, groups, and corporates.

I recently completed a Secondment as part of the AVC Travellers Program over at the Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort in New Zealand, where I worked as the Front Office Manager for 3 weeks. I also had the opportunity to explore some of New Zealand's finest locations including hiking to the summit of Mt Pauanui, visiting the Owharoa Falls, Rotarua, the Lord of the Rings Hobbiton & plenty more. It was a great experience!

As the Maintenance Manager I provide planning and execution of preventative maintenance services to maintain Accor’s assets to the highest possible standard.

Most days start off with plan ‘A’ with proactive maintenance activities of cleaning and servicing but can be quite dynamic with breakdowns at times –descending through the alphabet of plans until fixed and back on track!

I enjoy problem solving to find the root cause of issues that can disrupt service and trying to improve guest experiences where ever is possible. For The Sebel Busselton - it is the great location, & colleagues that makes going to work an overall positive experience.

AFunFact!

I flew out of Perth one afternoon for a holiday in Bali and my passport was misplaced enroute. I ended up being deported on the first flight back to Australia (key word being ‘Australia’ not where I departed from) and found myself at 6.00am in Brisbane on the other side of the country! Trip Advisor comment = “Not what I expected!”

ABOUT THE GM - Luke Gibbs

My name is Luke, I am the General Manager of Peppers Manly Beach/The Sebel Sydney Manly Beach. I joined Accor Vacation Club just over 8 months ago and have loved every minute of it!

My journey with Accor has been through a series of enriching phases, commencing in 2009 as a Food & Beverage Supervisor at Pullman Sydney Olympic Park. Across the years, I've worked in a diverse range of roles, from Restaurant Manager to overseeing Rooms Division Operations at Novotel Manly Pacific. After gaining experience in management across different hospitality brands, I made my way back Accor and Accor Vacation Club. In January 2023, I rejoined the Accor family as Hotel Manager at The Sebel Manly, and recently was thrilled to transition into my current position as General Manager, leading the launch of Peppers Manly Beach alongside my fantastic team.

My role is incredibly rewarding! I find great joy in leading and working with such a wonderful team in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As the Conference & Events Manager I oversee all aspects of a conference or event to make sure it is successful and runs smoothly. I also organise group accommodation bookings, plan and organise business events, and develop effective relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.

I spend most of the day at the office speaking with clients and vendors by phone, email or face to face. I negotiate contracts and rates, coordinate catering services, coordinate budgets and ensure event targets are achieved through creating effective strategies.

I enjoy connecting with the clients and the organisation of each part of their event to make sure it is extremely successful!

AFunFact!

I did not speak English when I arrived in Australia 10 years ago. I could not understand the accent! These days I am better than ever and I even use the Australian slang sometimes my own “Chilean way”.

As the Reservations Manager I oversee the entire reservations process and play a role in ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our guests. This includes but is not limited too; monitoring booking systems, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in our reservation databases and collaborating with our Inventory & Revenue team to maximise occupancy.

I spend most of the day working through the reservations and communicating liaising with all departments in the hotel to ensure everything is organised and ready for our valued members & guests to arrive

I graduated from the International College of Management (ICMS) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management in 2018!
