Carp
The different cultivated forms of carp are usually more compact and distinctly humpbacked. They also tend to grow faster than the wild form. The scales can vary in their reduction, distinguishing the following forms:
Common carp have a fully intact scale covering.
Linear carp have fewer scales, with a row of large scales along the lateral line.
Mirror carp have only a few scattered scales on the otherwise scale-less sides.
Carp are very popular among anglers due to their strong fighting ability, large size, and their selective response to boilies as bait. Carp fishing has evolved into a significant branch of angling, attracting many younger anglers in recent times. Fish weighing over 22 to 33 lbs (10 to 15 kilograms) are considered remarkable catches, depending on the fishing water. The world record for mirror carp, weighing 105.8 lbs (48 kilograms) and measuring 4 feet (125 centimeters), was set in 2015 at Euro Aqua Lake in Hungary. The new world record for common carp, weighing 100.3 lbs (45.5 kilograms), was caught in 2013 at Etang de Saussaie in France.
→ Carp usually feed at the bottom of the water. However, especially in the summer months, they slurp for insects on the surface of the water and can also be fed with bread in parks.
→ Koi farming serves as a model for many modern carp breeders, who produce stock fish for angling and generally no longer produce food fish.

Ireland
For many pike anglers, Ireland is considered the ultimate destination. Decades ago, the country was primarily known for its salmon and trout. However, Ireland has now also gained an excellent reputation among pike anglers.
Pike can be found in all types of waters in Ireland, from ponds and large lakes to rivers and canals. Irish pike grow quickly and can reach weights of up to 44 lbs (20 kilograms) in some waters. Fish weighing 22 lbs (10 kilograms) are widespread.
