Collett-Zarzycki is one of the very few design practices to offer a multi-disciplinary approach that embraces architecture, interior design and landscaping. This enables them to offer a fully comprehensive service to their clients from initial concept designs. The practice has a vibrant creative team of architects and designers who work closely with freelance consultants and artisans. Collett-Zarzycki is best known for its attention to detail and careful use of elegant materials full of character. With a particular appreciation of fine craftsmanship and custom finishes, Collett-Zarzycki create bespoke fixtures, fittings and furniture, imbuing their projects with a sense of quality and individuality. Their progressive, flexible and innovative design approach is informed and influenced by a deep-rooted understanding of classical architecture. This approach is evolutionary; they create tailored homes that respect tradition whilst reflecting contemporary life. An all-encompassing project embracing architecture, landscape, interiors and custom furniture, this new Alpes Maritimes villa fuses a contemporary aesthetic with contextual and vernacular influences. Situated in a green hillside, the new house - made of local stone and topped by terracotta tiled roof - enjoys open views across the countryside and towards the coast. Enticing outdoor rooms form an essential part of project, with a pergola and pavilion position close to the sculpted swimming pool, which has been crafted in black granite. The main house, which overlooks the pool and gardens, features its own fresh air spaces, with dining and seating zones hosted within a long veranda. Within, the interiors have a contemporary quality that draws upon a textural warmth of honest, natural materials. The double height sitting room sits at the heart of the building, with a stone staircase rising to one side. A collection of contemporary art adds colour and interest throughout, including spaces such as the dining room and the master bathroom, which features a kinetic modern sculpture floating over the Japanese style soaking tub.

DISC Interiors, established in 2011 by co-founders Krista Schrock and David John Dick in Los Angeles, are known for their soulful homes, blending contemporary and traditional detailing and furnishings, along with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. In their practice, they attempt to create interior and architectural balance, designing spaces that have structure, purpose, and provide places of comfort for their clients. At the hands of DISC Interiors, a 1930’s residence was redesigned for a family searching for their forever home in Holmby Hills, a historical tree-lined neighborhood in Los Angeles. Interior walls were removed, and windows were reconfigured to allow the interior spaces to have a sense of contemporary scale, while paneling and the historical details were kept, and built upon further. A true chef’s kitchen, inspired by classic English kitchens that never date, and a walk-in wine cellar with glass doors, were incorporated into the redesign. Chalky white custom cabinetry and leathered Italian marble surfaces in the kitchen complement the antique furnishings and English ceramic lighting fixtures. Down the hall, the powder room was resurfaced with muted limestone, and fixtures were replaced with a French two-toned copper/brass faucet and hammered bronze sink. Off the main living room, the paneled speakeasy bar has muted tones of pink, and weathered oak, and glows into the evening with conversation when the clients entertain. The master bathroom suite was redesigned to allow for a soaking tub, and an oversized oak vanity with bronze pulls was made to feel like it had always been there. The tones of Italian marble, and earthy finishes in the master bathroom connect to the master bedroom’s material serene palette of warm neutral velvets, linens, leathers, and antique brass.
