Hi everyone. We are a little late with this month’s LDCfocus – I’ll put this down to holidays & trips around the world! July has been a big month once again for acdc as we have seen the opening of the new multi-brand Malmo showroom, we have travelled all over Germany delivering training sessions and we attended the first global spec team leaders meeting in Berlin. One of the big features this month has to be the opening of Osijek Bridge, it was an absolute honour and pleasure to work on this project and see the first images sent over during commissioning, then there was more and more, huge congratulations to the team there, I hope you are as proud as us of the result. July has seen acdc products going on the PDB and VIVA so you can now easily spec acdc products. There is a lot of planning being put in for the European & APAC outdoor roadshows for the Autumn, coming to a major city near you!! I think I should get a tour T-shirt to promote it!! This will be an incredible multi brand event, bringing clarity and definition to the brands, and to this exciting and creative segment. September will also take me to Dubai to hear from local customers and participate in a series of workshops, I’ll let you know more in the next issue I’m sure.

Team Daniel Hodgson: Lighting Applications Director Stephan Ketterer: DACH Business Development Manager Leah Morrisey: Global Training Manager
June & July has seen the acdc training team travel the length of Germany to get the acdc brand, application and product message across to the teams in Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hannover, Hamburg & Berlin. We bunched them together in three different locations so that we can share experiences, knowledge & discussions, thank you to everyone who were able to attend – we really appreciate your time. The focus of the training was to enable the teams to see some of the key methods & techniques in creative outdoor architectural lighting with some detailed information on a few new major projects we are working on right now and how acdc in the Zumtobel Group is working so well. In all locations everyone had the opportunity to have hands on time with the products and ask as many questions as they could to give them confidence in acdc, there are already new projects coming out from these sessions and we look forward to working with this region more in the coming weeks and months. Whilst we had everyone together we took the opportunity to talk about the acdc downlights, the incredible wallwash luminaire and the new cove lighting guide and configurator emphasising that it really is getting easier to specify acdc. As you can see from the images, there were a couple of immediate project enquiries which meant we were up on the tables looking at the lit effect of the products for specific new applications – I think it was all worth it!! A huge thanks to everyone for organising and getting everyone together – why not read a little bit more about our very own Stephan Ketterer in this issue.

Pendle Pub Walk “ 10 miles, 10 pubs! ”
The acdc team were up early on Saturday 17th June to support Pendleside Hospice annual Pendle Pub Walk. The event takes place every year to raise money for the charity and this year acdc put on their walking boots ad got stuck in. The event is a 10 mile sponsored walk around the local stunning Ribble Valley and Pendle area, using the area’s finest pubs as stopping points who serve food and real ales to the walkers throughout the route. With over 1,900 walkers pre-registered and another
400 signing up on the day, it was a record turnout for the popular event. Walkers set off from Fence and the walk took in pubs and social clubs through Fence, Barley, Blacko and Barrowford with the addition of the Roughlee Village Centre proving very popular. Through the day the glorious Pendleside countryside took on an even greener hue as walkers donned their official T-shirts for a special day out. In true acdc style our directors were as dapper as ever in their 118 fancy dress and everyone was looking cool with their acdc caps and sunglasses including our canine friends. The team raised over £1,000 for the charity and is part of a number of events that acdc are supporting. 6

Stephan Ketterer
Business Development Manager - DACH
Name: Stephan Ketterer. Position: Business Development Manager DACH. How long have you been @ Zumtobel? At acdc since Jan 2017, have been at Zumtobel from Jan 2009 till Sep 2014. How did you get into lighting? Where did it all begin? I was introduced to the profession of Product Management at Schueco International (Market leader for Aluminium facades in Europe) from the start. This has been the door opener to work for Zumtobel. I gained lots of experiences during my time as a Senior PM in Lemgo/ Germany, being responsible for architectural lighting systems & the Art & Culture application. Always loved to get in touch with customers during VOCs, sharing knowledge e.g. on technical details, future technologies & lighting design. What project are you working on at the moment? There are a couple of very interesting projects currently. One is the redesign of a façade for a (Galeria Kaufhof) shopping centre in Germany. The architect designed a crystallike façade made out of a mesh-material. He wants to highlight the 3-dimensional effect of this façade. We designed a special CPD unit consisting of 2x SPEK spotlight fittings on a mounting plate for an quick & easy installation. The mock-up is going to take place this Thursday. Exciting!
What’s the most rewarding/best things about your job? Contributing to successfully finished projects – whether it’s with people, products or knowledge. Great! What’s the most challenging aspects of what you do/your job? To make the hurdles between the D/A/CH consolidated processes & the fresh and sometimes unconventional acdc UK approach disappear. We’re on a really good way. What are you in need of most? Time, interaction with customers & good food. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I love diving & tennis, I have a passion for interacting with people, i’m precise on achieving goals and keen to understand new technologies. Creator of the best bratwurst pizza on earth (according to my daughter). What are you having for your dinner tonight? As a challenge to myself I love to “recreate” yummy meals I’ve eaten during my travels. Today I am going to try do a WatermelonAvocado salad which I had in the hotel during my stay in Munich for an acdc Workshop, end of June.
How would you describe your job? What does your standard day look like? Lucky me there is no standard day. It’s a mixture of visiting customers for (re-)presenting acdc, supporting projects internally & externally, as well by doing mock-ups (lots of fun with acdc!), transferring acdc knowledge via workshops & regular visits to the sales regions.

Project Focus
Osijek Bridge - Croatia acdc had the pleasure and honour to be involved with the architectural illumination of Osijek Bridge. The big switch on happened earlier this summer with over 20,000 local people and press there to see the turning on of the new full colour changing architectural lighting of the pedestrian bridge. Sasa Pajdic Vice President Sales Specification in BEE says ‘Lot of the local people cried from happiness, energy flowed, it was amazing as well as the solution.’ The project began for acdc in November of 2016, but a lot earlier than that for the local region, working side by side acdc have provided lighting application advice, schematic layouts and the product to deliver the final wow factor. The concept design for the bridge had to consider a number of key elements : • People • Context • Contrast • Colour People: We had to ensure that the views and experience of those using the bridge either from the riverside or when walking across the bridge were enhanced by the lighting in the hours of darkness, and not causing disability glare to those using it.
Context: The bridge is located on the edge of the town centre and close to a large open park and so careful consideration had to be applied to ensure the bridge was not either over lit or underlit, and this was carefully resolved through modelling & onsite mockups. Contrast: The scheme had to frame the scale, height & beauty of the bridge and this was achieved by integrating a regular array of external linear IP67 luminaires to graze light up from the base in a consistent graze so that it was not a patchy lit effect, this really captured the length & scale of the bridge particularly.
The Fusion 48 luminaire with a 10 degree beam was installed at the highest level of the structure on each side of the bridge to graze and punch coloured light down the structure to emphasise the scale and frame the bridge.
Colour: It was essential to the project that the lit effect applied was coloured light. The concept to provide the architectural lighting was to use a combination of architectural linear & flood luminaires to ensure the whole bridge was captured and the local people made proud.
A huge thankyou to the local team in Osijek & in Belgrade, thankyou for inviting us to be a part of this one. The Fusion Family - Floodlights Click the image for more information.
Product: The acdc linear IP67 integral Integrex luminaires were used the full length of the bridge in a RGBW DMX format, linking end to end with a mains input every 10no. luminaires. The linear beam (34º x 16º) enabled the light to graze up the suspension ropes from the very base of the bridge to highest points.
Client: The Town of Osijek Project: Bridge Location: Croatia Lighting Solution: acdc - Fusion 48, Intergrex Lighting Application: acdc - Dan Hodgson
