SUNPROOF® OLEFIN Eco Friendly Lounging

SUNPROOF® OLEFIN Eco Friendly Lounging

O

lefin, the best-in-class and by far the most environmentally friendly option for all weather & all season Outdoor upholstery! Curious about the success factors of Olefin as an Outdoor Fabric and what our Sunproof® collection can do for you? You read it all.

Olefin originated in Italy in 1957. It is produced from polypropylene/polyolefins and converted into fibers from there. Already during production, the fibers are dyed to the core in a so-called Solution Dyed solution, which makes the fabric very colorfast and retains its color for years. Olefin’s production process is the basis why Olefin by-far is the most eco-friendly fabric compared to competing Outdoor fabrics such as Acrylic and Polyester. In addition to the environmentally friendly aspects, Olefin has many other advantages and technical properties that make it the fabric of choice for Outdoor upholstery.

Eco-friendly

01

Olefin as recognized #1 in environmentally friendly Outdoor fabrics.

Recycling from propylene

02

Olefin is made from polypropylene. Previously, propylene was traditionally burned during oil production because it did not have many practical uses. Nowadays the former waste material is recycled to make polypropylene and Olefin, so a sustainable recycling cycle.

Solution Dyed

03

Sunproof® Olefin is dyed to the core of the fiber during the production process in accordance with the so-called Solution Dyed process. This is a very clean and environmentally friendly dyeing process because there is no dye bath process involved, thus eliminating waste streams that can pollute water and air.

Recyclable

04

Olefin is 100% recyclable. The fiber can be reused up to 10 times to make new products.

Color fastness

05

Influences of natural forces should have no effect on outdoor products. The fibers of Sunproof® Olefin are dyed to the core during the production process using the Solution Dyed process, after which UV inhibitors are also added to prevent the effect of UV radiation. As a result, the fabric retains its original color for years and is protected against influences such as rain and sunshine. All this with the result that our Sunproof® Olefin fabrics achieve the highest possible score of 8 in accordance with the test standard for Artificial Weathering: BS EN ISO 105:B04.

Carbon footprint

06

The Sunproof® Olefin production process has an economical CO2 footprint, greatly reduced waste flows and very little water wastage. In addition, the fiber is 100% recyclable, whereas a competing substance such as acrylic is difficult to biodegrade.

Wide variety of styles, structures and weaves

07

Compared to, for example, acrylic fabrics, Olefin offers a much wider range of styles, structures and weaves, opening up a world of combinations and design possibilities. “The sky is the limit” certainly applies here.

Water resistant

08

Olefin is water repellent. It practically does not absorb moisture, but drains it. In the event that moisture gets on it, it also dries up very quickly. After a heavy rain shower, you can breathe a sigh of relief that your outdoor products are not soaked and dry quickly. Olefin also repels moisture and sweat, so you do not stick to your chair during warm summer evenings.

Abrasion resistance

09

Olefin is very resistant to wear, especially when it comes to friction and exposure to salt water and chlorinated water.

Stain Resistant & Easy Cleaning

10

Sunproof® Olefin is very stain resistant and also resistant to mold formation, due to an extra treatment during production. The fabrics are easy to clean with soap and water. Machine wash up to 30 degrees is no problem. Even after cleaning/washing (in accordance with the regulations), the fabrics retain their original colour.

Comfort

11

An important aspect is comfort. Olefin is characterized by a remarkably soft, smooth, and supremely comfortable experience. Ideal as a fabric for lounge and garden furniture. In short: the technical properties of Outdoor fabrics combined with the look & feel of Indoor fabrics.

Not static

12

Olefin, unlike acrylic, has no static transmission, which is nice when you sit on your garden furniture in shorts.

Pricing

13

The production process for Olefin is available on a fairly large scale, so the price is more favorable compared to competing fabrics such as Acrylic.

OEKO-TEX certified

14

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a testing and certification system for textiles. The standard focuses on limiting the use of harmful substances in relation to the health of the end user. Sunproof® Olefin is free of any substance that can be harmful to people and/or the environment in any way, so 100% OEKO-TEX certified. The Sunproof® Olefin fabrics are also 100% free of PFAS.
