Leading our wonderful IBDP program I’m so lucky to get to work with so many dedicated and talented individuals. The care and hard work that our teachers showed preparing our students and supporting them throughout this challenging year was so wonderful to see I’m looking forward to continuing to grow and improve the program in the future with our team I’m also extremely thankful for the guidance, knowledge and leadership of Mr Myles and Ms. Selda, who have helped me so much this year experiences, but I’ll give it a try!

Finishing the IB Exams

Well, that was certainly an action-packed year! It really seems like longer I was so lucky to join ACG School Jakarta just as everyone was coming back on campus after 2 years of Covid interrupted schooling. Thankfully, ACG students, parents, and staff made me feel welcome immediately, which really helped my transition into the school. We started the year with an exciting trip to Bogor with the IBDP students. On the ‘IB Retreat,’ we took the bus and stayed in a hotel doing various IB-related workshops. After our study time, we played some fun games, did a virtual escape room, swam in the pool and the students competed in groups against each other in Mr K’s Quiz Night! This was the first excursion after we returned to campus and was a great way to bond with the DP students and teachers Honestly, it’s been such a hectic year and it’s hard to think of my favorite Teaching swimming with the beginner Learn to Swim group. I love the energy and laughs in the pool from our Kindy and lower primary students One great thing about teaching swimming is seeing the progress of the students when they become more confident in the water It’s also lovely for me to interact with some of our littlest students after spending all my day with the big ones ;)

Even though I’ve been a DP Coordinator for over 3 years, this was my first examination session (thanks Covid!) It was another learning experience for me and the students, and thankfully it all went smoothly. We are now crossing our fingers for some positive results in July

Coaching the Boys Football and Girls Volleyball teams Coach Faheem and I worked extremely hard with both Football teams and had some great success, especially with the senior team The endless running and cardio drills paid off in the end! Coaching Volleyball was a new experience for me, and I was so happy with the improvement in the team We’ll be bigger and better next year! Go Wolves!

Drama with Year 7 and 8. We had so much fun this year doing Theatre Sports, drama skits and then filmmaking The students’ confidence grew throughout the year, ending with some funny skits performed in front of the whole school and the videos, which were screened as part of our Artscape Creativity Gala.

Graduation It was a lovely evening celebrating the achievements of our Year 13 class, who graduated this year and a positive way to end the year

Artscape Creativity Gala. After seeing the drama performances mid-year, I really wanted to put on a big show for all the ACG School Jakarta community Our Gala team worked overtime to prepare the students and arrangements for the event It was so great to see all the artistic talent around the school We all saw some creative Design Technology projects, incredible artworks, the Year 9 Drama play, the Year 7 and 8 videos, musical performances and dancers! All the hard work paid off and I can’t wait for next year’s show

There were so many other great moments throughout the year, though I’d better finish so I don’t take up too many pages! I feel really privileged to be working in such a positive environment. I cannot walk around the school without seeing smiles, waves, hellos, and possibly some Hi-5s from all our students, from Kindy to Year 13 I’ve worked in many different schools in my career, and these are the friendliest students that I’ve taught! Really I’m thrilled that my son Callum will be joining our Kindy class next year at ACG School Jakarta and I look forward to writing in next year’s Yearbook with many other positive experiences.
