Sunrise Clinical Manager Training The 3 urban adult hospitals, children’s hospital and two urgent care centres of the Alberta Health Services Calgary Zone are linked via a single electronic medical record, Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM). As a new provider to Calgary it is essential for you to be trained on SCM. This is necessary to be able to view the patient’s chart and create orders. Training must be completed before you are granted access to the system. Steps to Follow (both must be completed): 1. eLearning interactive modules (~3 hours): The eLearning modules must be completed prior to attending an SCM training session. The modules are most effective if completed within 1 week of your scheduled orientation: http://www4.albertahealthservices.ca/elearning/wbt/Launch/SCM_Physician/index.html There are four modules to complete, with each module containing several topics. 2. Structured classroom training session (2.5 hours): Training can be scheduled through the IT Access Office by calling 1-403-943-6840 option 1. Regularly scheduled training sessions are held every Tuesday afternoon. Please register at least 1 week before your preferred training date (new residents and clinical clerks commencing on the regular academic schedule will be provided with a training date by the Medical Education Office). The classroom training session consists of:  A refresher of SCM principles  4 short assessments that must be passed to obtain your SCM access - These assessments will test your knowledge of the eLearning Modules  Practical application through practice scenarios and order set review SCM allows Practitioners to:  Create patient lists and printed reports  View lab and DI text results, documents, medication administration and flow sheets  Enter and Manage Orders  Use Order Sets that support best practice and make ordering more efficient  Track allergies and review clinical alerts (ie drug-drug and allergic reactions) And More… Integration of acute centres via a single electronic medical record is a significant step towards achieving our e_record vision: Citizen and Provider access to personal and complete electronic health records.
