Dr Chaudron received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed a psychiatry residency and a subspecialty fellowship in women’s health, both at University Hospitals and Clinics, University of Wisconsin (Madison). During that time she received her Master’s Degree in epidemiology with a research focus on women’s mental health issues. In 1999 she returned to the University of Rochester to join the department of psychiatry. Since that time she conducted research in perinatal depression and anxiety, published extensively in the area of screening for perinatal depression and has also held multiple clinical and educational administrative leadership roles within the Department of Psychiatry and the medical school. She currently oversees the clinical operations within psychiatry as Associate Chair for Clinical Services. She is the Senior Associate Dean for Diversity and is a leader in diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the medical school.

Dr Wenzel is author of Anxiety in Childbearing Women: Diagnosis and Treatment and co-author of Dropping the Baby and Other Scary Thoughts: Breaking the Cycle of Unwanted Thoughts in Motherhood and she has authored approximately 100 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, many on perinatal depression and anxiety. In addition, she is the author or editor of three forthcoming books on perinatal psychology (Oxford University Press), coping with pregnancy loss (APA Books: LifeTools) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for perinatal distress (Routledge). Dr Wenzel has held previous faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, University of North Dakota and American College of Norway. Her research has been funded by the National Institute for Mental Health, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (now Brain and Behavior Foundation). She is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and has held leadership positions within the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She currently divides her time between treatment development, training and supervision and clinical practice.

The planning committee will be providing an opportunity for poster presentations at the Women’s Mental Health Day Conference. This is a great opportunity for sharing ideas, lessons learned and for networking with colleagues. Last year’s conference had over 200 attendees from a range of backgrounds – health practitioners (eg. psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, clinical staff), other healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, policy makers and private sector professionals. There will be plenty of time for poster viewing in the conference schedule. This will provide a forum to meet with and talk with colleagues from across the province about challenges faced in the mental health field of study. The main theme of this year’s 2013 conference is Anxiety Disorders in the Perinatal Period. We welcome you to submit an abstract for poster presentation on Mental Health Issues in Women of Childbearing Age. Abstracts may include (but are not limited to) the following topics: •

mental health issues during pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding

assessment, screening and management of mental health issues during pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding

mental health issues related to poor fertility or infertility

impact of anxiety on maternal mental health in pregnancy, infants and child outcomes

Abstract Preparation Submissions may represent final reports on study findings, preliminary findings from ongoing research projects or a specific case report or clinical issue. Abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words and may include the following sections: •

However $50 will be retained for administrative costs. No refund will be made for cancellation after April 26, 2013. NOTE: Refunds are processed only on the return of original receipt.
