About Achieva Achieva was founded in 1951 by a group of family members who all desired the same thing: to ensure their children with disabilities had the same chances in life that all children should be given. Their commitment helped establish a chapter of The Arc in Allegheny County and The Arc of Pennsylvania, and contributed to a nationwide movement that changed the long history of isolation and segregation for both children and adults with disabilities. Achieva proudly continues its affiliation with The Arc to this day. Today, Achieva is the only agency of its type in southwestern Pennsylvania that provides lifelong supports for children and adults with disabilities and their families. We envision a community where disability is a distinction that makes no difference. In January 2021, Autism Connection of Pennsylvania, a statewide advocacy organization for people with autism based in Pittsburgh, officially joined The Achieva Family of Organizations as one of our several affiliates. We welcome Autism Connection of Pennsylvania and look forward to many years of advocacy and innovation with this new partnership. Achieva and its family of organizations are affiliated with The Arc of Pennsylvania and The Arc of the United States. To learn more about Achieva and our programs, visit www.achieva.info.
