About Achieva Achieva was founded in 1951 by a group of family members who all desired the same thing: to ensure their children with disabilities had the same chances in life that all children should be given. Their commitment helped establish a chapter of The Arc in Allegheny County and The Arc of Pennsylvania, and contributed to a nationwide movement that changed the long history of isolation and segregation for both children and adults with disabilities. Achieva proudly continues its affiliation with The Arc to this day. Today, Achieva is the only agency of its type in southwestern Pennsylvania that provides lifelong supports for children and adults with disabilities and their families. We envision a community where disability is a distinction that makes no difference. Achieva has been a leader in creating innovative supports and services that include: family trust services; advocacy; early intervention; home care and community supports; older adult protective services; camp and recreation; community supported living; and employment supports. Achieva and its family of organizations are affiliated with The Arc of Pennsylvania and The Arc of the United States. To learn more about Achieva and our programs, visit www.achieva.info.
