Realtor Josh Sprague thought he found the right fixer-upper to move his young family into in Edina. The rambler on West 70th Street needed work inside and out but put his growing brood in the Edina School District and was across the street from a park. I thought there’s got to be a better way to do this for pedestrians.” As the Cornelia area newcomer met his neighbors, he learned the city of Edina planned to reconstruct the street but without the trafficcalming and pedestrian-friendly measures to improve safety and quality of life. He got involved. Now nearly five years and countless hours of community service later, he’ll join the Edina City Council.
Highlands Elementary School first-grader Lauren Levoir wanted just one thing this Christmas. “I asked Santa for soap for Haiti,” said Lauren. “They need a bunch of soap so I asked him for some more.” Lauren and other students at the Edina school began collecting soap in early December to help fight the spread of Cholera in the Caribbean nation.
