Next Chapter’s Infinite Mindcare Talk Series takes place on the third Saturday of every month at 9am. Each month’s topic is different, covering subjects like the importance of sleep, maintaining friendships and keeping a healthy mindset on social media. The Pirates Week Festival is one of the biggest cultural events in the Cayman Islands. An annual spectacle that takes place in November, 30+ activities are hosted over three weekends across all three islands, starting with Cayman Brac, then moving to Grand Cayman and finishing with Little Cayman. The highlight of the Festival is the Landing Pageant and Float Parade, which takes place in George Town. Thousands of people line the streets to watch a mock take-over of the Island by a band of fighting pirates, who come ashore by pirate ship. A parade, street dance and fireworks display also take place. Other features of the festival include an abundance of music, culture and delicious local food. Batabano Cayman’s Carnival, Batabano, is usually held after Easter every year. It is a major highlight on the Island’s entertainment calendar. It is said the word ‘batabano’ refers to the tracks left in the sand by sea turtles as they crawl onto the beach to nest. Batabano is a multi-day event that includes a Carnival Ball, soca song competition, street parade, street dance, a beach fête and Soca music, dancing and pageantry. It celebrates the Caribbean’s diverse African and religious roots, as well as reflecting the Island’s rich heritage. Thousands of locals and visitors flock to the streets! Gimistory Gimistory is an International Storytelling Festival that features guest storytellers from all over the world. It’s held over a ten-day period at the end of November through early December each year. The festival travels to different beaches and parks in all districts on all three Islands, and during the day the storytellers visit the local schools to make special presentations. Red Sky at Night Red Sky At Night, a multi-cultural arts fair, celebrates all things arts and culture. The event features a variety of entertainment such as live dance, music, drama performances and poetry readings, as well as displays of visual arts, crafts and films. From steel pan, fiddles and drums to DJs, dance troupe performances, storytelling and theatre, there is no shortage of entertainment. There are also dozens of artisan booths selling locally made art, crafts, jewellery, clothes and accessories as well as food vendors selling traditional Caymanian food and delicacies from around the world. Jetovator Rides A Jetovator propels a rider up into the air much like a Jetpack does; however, the Jetovator is incredibly easy to operate and just about anybody can be trained to operate it safely in 20 minutes. The Jetovator can attain forward speeds of 25mph, dive underwater for brief durations and allows riders to cruise in comfort for as long as

Kayaking and Bioluminescent Tours One of nature’s best-kept secrets is a rare bioluminescent phenomenon found only in a dozen places worldwide. Cayman Kayaks offers magical bioluminescence tours by kayak and electric catamaran from Rum Point to the bioluminescent

bay which is suitable for all skill levels and only a 10-minute paddle. Tours are 1.5-2 hours long and they include the guided tour to and from the bay. Paddleboarding Paddleboards can be rented from Cayman

The Cayman Islands Sailing Club offers a range of sailing lessons for adults with little or no sailing experience and those looking to further develop their skills. Snorkelling Snorkelling is a great way to discover the underwater world. Ocean Frontiers (Tel:

Surfing Good swells are generated off of Seven Mile Beach from December to March, when Nor’westers blow through. From June to November, the best surf is usually found at the South Sound Community Centre and Mariners Cove in Spotts. However, beginners would be well advised to avoid these locations as the coral and sea urchins can prove hazardous. Areas with a safe sandy bottom and easy access to/from the sea is ideal. Surfboards can be purchased at Divers World in 7 Mile Shops.

Waverunner Trips You can rent a jet ski from half an hour, up to a full day from Action Watersports (Tel: (345) 548 3147). They also offer two hour guided jet ski tours to Stingray City and Rum Point, incorporating some snorkelling. Residents get a 5% discount from a 45 minute Jet Ski Adventure Tour along the coast or a Jet Ski Snorkel Safari where you’ll discover Cayman above and below the water. Windsurfing The prevailing winds make the beaches off East End perfect for windsurfing. If you are interested in windsurfing, you can rent with Tortuga Divers (Tel: (345) 947 2097) at Morritts’ Tortuga Club. They cater to all windsurfing levels with boards to suit beginners, intermediate and advanced windsurfers. Residents can receive up to
