Über Adam: Adam Palma spielt seit 1986 Gitarre.

Professionellen Unterricht nahm er jedoch erst einige Jahre später in Polen. Dort schloss er 1999 an der Musikakademie in Katowice im Fachbereich Jazz und Popularmusik mit Auszeichnung ab. Seit seinem Umzug nach Manchester (GB) teilte Adam mit vielen internationalen Künstlern die Bühne, darunter Chris de Burgh, Tommy Emmanuel, Joscho Stephan, Martin Taylor, Jack Pearson (The Allman Brothers), Hamish Stuart (The Average White Band, Paul McCartney). Adam eröffnete bereits Konzerte für Künstler wie Albert Lee oder Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones).

In seiner einzigartigen Spielweise mischt Adam Elemente des Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk und Country und unterrichtet an der Universität in Salford und an der Manchester Metropolitan University.

Adam gewann den Titel als „Bester Akustikgitarrist“ bei den Polish Guitar Awards 2013.

About Adam: Adam Palma first started playing the guitar in 1986. His formal music education started in Poland some years later and in 1999, he graduated from The Music Academy in Katowice with honours, – Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music. Since moving to Manchester, UK, Adam has played with many top international artistes and guitarists such as Chris de Burgh, Tommy Emmanuel, Joscho Stephan, Martin Taylor, Jack Pearson (The Allman Brothers), Hamish Stuart (The Average White Band, Paul McCartney).

Adam has opened the shows for the guitarists like: Albert Lee or Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones).

Adam teaches guitar at the University in Salford and Manchester Metropolitan University in Crewe.

Welcome to my DVD “Acoustic Blues Adventures with Adam Palma”. In this DVD, I'll show you and teach you some different techniques and styles that you can apply to your playing to spice up the 12 bar blues progression and make it sound more interesting.

I'll give you many tips on playing with the pick, the thumbpick, your bare hands and also I'll show you how to play the blues in Gypsy Jazz.

I played all the tunes in standard tuning in a normal tempo and then I broke them down for you so you could watch my hands carefully to learn and copy everything.

Der Tonika-Akkord im Gypsy-JazzBlues hat statt einer kleinen Septime eine große Sexte und oft eine große None. Der Improvisierende bekommt so ein neues Gefühl für den Blues und andere Skalen für sein Solo über die Akkorde. Ich benutze die C-Dur-Tonleiter und ein paar Durchgangstöne, um die Improvisation über den C6/9Akkord auszugestalten.

Takt 13 Die C-Dur-Tonleiter mit dem Durchgangston b-flat. Manche Leute nennen das die BebopDominant-Skala oder einfach Bebop-Skala.

Takt 17 Ich umspiele zwei Voicings von F7/9, eins in der 8. und das andere in der 13. Lage.

Takt 19 Hier spiele ich ein Am7-Arpeggio, das aus denselben Tönen wie ein C6-Arpeggio besteht.

Takt 22 Ich denke hier G7/b9 und spiele ein G7/b9- bzw. Abdim7-Arpeggio. Sie sind im Grunde gleich, wenn man den Grundton des G7/ b9 weglässt.

G7/b9-Arpeggio: G B D F Ab Abdim7-Arpeggio: Ab B D F Ab Ich beende die Phrase mit einem sehr stylischen Bending: Ich bende die Saite, anstatt dieselbe Note zu wiederholen.

The tonic chord in a Gypsy Jazz Blues has the major sixth rather than the minor seventh and often major ninth. This gives the improviser a new feel of the blues and different scales to solo over the chords. I use the C major scale and some passing notes to embellish the lines over the C chord.

Bar 13 The C major scale with the passing note Bb. Some people call this scale The Dominant Bebop Scale or just The Bebop Scale.

Bar 17 I am outlining two shapes of F7/9 in the 8th and 13th positions.

Bar 19 I playSeite Am72arpeggio which is in other words C6 arpeggio.

Bar 22 I think here G7/b9 and I play G7/b9 arpeggio or Abdim7 arpeggio if you like, they are both the same if you don’t play the root of the G7/b9.

Akord toniczny w stylu gypsyjazz posiada raczej sekstę wielką niż septymę małą i bardzo często dodaną nonę wielką. Taki zabieg daje soliście nowe możliwości improwizacji i możliwość użycia innych skali do solówek. Na C6/9 głównie używam skali C-dur z kilkoma „dźwiękami pobocznymi”, które ozdabiają improwizowane melodie.

Takt 13 Używam tutaj skali C-dur i dodatkowo dźwięk B. Niektórzy nazywają taką skalę skalą bebopową dominantową albo poprostu skalą bebopową.

Takt 17 Ogrywam akord F7/9 w VIII, a później XIII pozycji.
