Description of ACS Athens Middle School The Middle School is comprised of: ● 6th-8th grades We offer: ● Academic Programs that meet and exceed U.S. and International curriculum standards ● A rich array of extra curricular and co-curricular
activities and clubs
Curriculum Schedule The Curriculum consists of eight subject groups offered . They are: 1. Language Arts -(At ACS the school’s language of instruction is English.) 2. Modern Languages– a modern foreign language learned at school (At ACS, students may study Greek, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, and German as a second language.)
3. Social Studies – history and geography 4. Sciences – general science, earth science, biology, chemistry and physics 5. Mathematics – core course including topics in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability & statistics
6. Arts – art/design and music, drama 7. Physical Education – health and hygiene, individual and team sports, fitness 8. Technology – Foundations of technology, research, and Guidance

CALENDAR & DISCUSSIONS AT CORE MEETINGS •STUDENT ACCOUNTABILITY: IF ABSENT FROM SCHOOL FOR ANY REASON, THE STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING UP ALL OF THE CLASS WORK AND HOMEWORK HE/SHE MISSED. •M.S. EXPECTATIONS INCLUDE STUDENTS UTILIZING MOODLE AND COMMUNICATING WITH TEACHERS VIA EMAIL (STUDENT LED) WHEN APPLICABLE.
Student Life Each student will be assigned a combination lock by the school. A fee of 20 euro will be deposited upon entry to ACS and will be returned to the student upon withdrawing from the school provided that no damage is reported. This is where a student keeps books, jackets, lunch, and other possessions. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENTS DO NOT KEEP EXPENSIVE AND/OR OTHER VALUABLE ITEMS IN THEIR LOCKERS OR SHARE COMBOS! A student may only go to his/her locker during the passing time between classes.

MS ACTIVITIES AND INTEREST GROUPS CLUBS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND SPORTS •PARTICIPATING IN ACTIVITIES (SPECIAL PROGRAMS,
TEAM SPORTS, INTRAMURALS AND CLUBS) AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL IS VERY MUCH A PART OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE. ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO JOIN 1 ACTIVITY. (ADVISORY) •ONE CAN LEARN IN MANY WAYS, AS WELL AS A LOT OF FUN TO EXPERIENCE, IN THE EXAMPLES OF VARIOUS CLUBS, SPORTS AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS WHICH MEET DURING LUNCH, ADVISORY, AND AFTER SCHOOL. CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES ARE DEVELOPED BASED ON STUDENT INTEREST.
