INPP Reflex integration therapy For children with learning difficulties (Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, dyspraxia etc.)

A talk by Dr Matt Teale, MB ChB, MRCGP, INPP licentiate The INPP system revisits the basic movements that were missed during the development of the child. These movements give the child the necessary neuro-developmental building blocks to allow them to co-ordinate their central nervous system with their bodies. Thus, allowing them to develop basic skills which would otherwise need tremendous effort to achieve. The child is given a structured program of exercises tailored to the specific needs of each individual child. These take between 5-10 minutes per day and are done at home with parental supervision.

What is “Neuro-developmental delay”? It has been found that many children suffering from learning difficulties (dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, Dyspraxia) have problems with posture, co-ordination, balance and eye tracking. These and many other symptoms can often be traced back to an interruption in the normal developmental processes that train the brain to work together in harmony with vision, balance, hearing, postural awareness and co-ordination of movement of the hands, eyes, legs, etc. A new born baby’s movements are guided by pre-programmed reflexes which make sure that the baby goes through certain important movements before they are consciously aware of what needs to be done. These movements automatically train the young nervous system to be ready for more advanced skills later on. If for some reason this training does not go smoothly, the child does not have the necessary “software” to be able to perform tasks that we take for granted and problems with co-ordination, reading, writing etc. develop. The INPP system helps to put in place the missed developmental stages to allow the children to achieve its full potential. Dr. Teale is an English doctor trained in the UK in General Family Medicine and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). He has been living and working in Athens for 12 years. He became involved in the INPP system through the personal experience of seeing the tremendous difference it made with members of his own family. He has trained in the UK at the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology (INPP) with the founders of this system. He treats Greek and English speaking children in Athens with reflex related learning difficulties. For more information on INPP take a look at :
