MARCH 2017 DAIRY NEWSLETTER Journal 2019 We are compiling reports for the next Journal, if you have any Regional events or herd competitions this year we would be very grateful if you could please provide Claire with any results, reports and photos after the event.

NOTE if you are a show Judge, a Judges Report would be greatly appreciated to help support the results and photos. Please post or email them to claire@shorthorn.co.uk There is now a printable form that can be found on the Dairy Website under Docs/ Forms to help collate your results from your Herd Competition or call the office for a

printed version.

From time to time we may share your contact details with allied partners e.g.

Livestock markets, for marketing purposes.

Calendar Our Dairy Calendar has now been updated with all the shows and events for 2018. This can be viewed on your mobile via the Shorthorn Website. If you have any events which you would like to promote please call Claire and we can add them to the calendar.

Membership Please can we ask that you pay your 2018 Membership Invoice if you haven't already done so. Payment of this will ensure that your Registrations are actioned and all necessary literature will be issued to you accordingly. You can pay this by BACS using the details on your invoice or by card by calling the office or by sending a cheque quoting the invoice number on the back.

Please find a standing order form enclosed which we kindly ask that you complete and return to the office if you currently pay by cheque or BACS, this will allow future payments starting 2019 to be received at the Society annually and relieve you of the pressure to remember the payment each year.

Herd Books There are a collection of Coates Herd Books and The Dairy Shorthorn Year books looking for a new home. For more details please call Anne Bradley— Midtyas Prefix on 01759 380538.

Registrations

2018 birth Herd Book entry rules are enclosed. 2017 births and earlier previous 2018 is now upon us - Please remember to Herd Book rules will apply until June 2018 register your 2018 births now to avoid late fees. then all births will be registered under the Registrations can be done on-line via the new Herd Book rules which includes the website or by sending paper registrations slips.

AGM & Judging Day This years AGM and Judging day is taking place on Saturday 9th June 2018 At Mr RG Kite`s, Coton Hall Farm, Milwich, Stafford, ST18 0ET Timetable for the day is as follows: 11.30 AGM followed by lunch at 12.00, 12.30 Judging Competition with Master Judge Paul Harrison followed by a visit around the herd.

Local Accommodation: Premier Inn, Stafford North M6 junction 14 We would like to encourage all Judges to attend the day and advise that anyone wishing to be added to the Judges list should also attend.

Young Members Weekend This event will take place on Sat 26th to Sunday 27th May 2018 At RST & SA Morgan`s, Woodend Hall Farm, Coton, Whitchurch, Shropshire, SY13 3LJ During the weekend there will be various activities including clipping and handling skills, on Saturday evening everyone is welcome to a BBQ. National Young Stars We are looking for young members to make a team, please contact Racheal Madeley if you are interested.

TB Advisory Service Enclosed is a leaflet from TBAS offering contact details to farm consultants offering free advice to any eligible farmers.

Shorthorn Sires UK Special offers We have 4 super bulls at the great price of ÂŁ5 per straw. The bulls are: Kilsally Redford Brooksteads Bomber Nejay Earl Courtover Patriot We have now seen some great heifers milking off Kilsally Redford. Flyer enclosed for more details on these bulls. Transfers

Transfers are still free of charge so keep your animals details up to date by emailing Claire with any animals you have purchased or sold.

Classification Fees

Please be aware that we have been informed by NBDC that the Type Classification Services fees have increase with effect from 1st March 2018. Fees letter enclosed.

Invoices

Gold Cup

Hopefully everyone will have seen the new monthly style invoices, all the payment methods are detailed. Please note: on the Payment Terms, it states that a 2% monthly charge may be incurred if payment is not received within 30 days of the date of the invoice.

Herdsman

Please remember that the Gold Cup Entries close at the end of May, so submit your entry form soon.
