EAT, SEE AND EXPLORE… See Canberra come alive to celebrate culture and creativity, when the Enlighten Festival presented by Singapore Airlines returns. Held over 17 days from Friday March 1, the city will be a hive of activity with a range of free and ticketed events combining to make the Enlighten Festival a highlight on Canberra’s 2019 events calendar.
Democracy, Questacon, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery of Australia as the Enlighten Illuminations light up after dark (1–11 March). Eat your heart out at the Canberra Night Noodle Markets (1–10 March) and Enlighten Alley and indulge in an experience for all your senses.

Returning for its 31st year, Hit 104.7 Skyfire (16 March) will fill the sky with a dazzling display of aerial acrobatics and spectacular fireworks.
FOR THE CULTURE BUFFS The Spiegeltent (30 March–21 April) returns to Civic Square with a mix of circus, cabaret, contortion, acrobatics, dance and live music, LIFE—The Show will be headlining the month long party. Or if comedy is more your style, head along to Canberra Comedy Festival (18–24 March) and catch comedians Dave Hughes, Akmal, The Chaser plus more. Get in quick and experience Love and Desire (until 28 April) at the National Gallery of Australia before the Pre-Raphaelite paintings head back home to the Tate Britain. FOR THE FOODIES Good Food Month (1–31 March) returns for another year of delicious, unique and engaging events taking place across Canberra. With three incredible fine dining events featuring both local and international chefs, you’ll be left with lasting memories of good food and good times. April will see the return of the Canberra District Wine Week (5–14 April), offering a program of wine dinners, tastings and themed events in the city and right around the Canberra wine district!
EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS Rise early and take to the skies in a hot-air balloon as the early morning sun fills the valley and lakes with soft morning light. Take advantage of the capital’s fabulous weather by hiring a bike or segway to tour around Lake Burley Griffin. Hire a Go Boat picnic boat, kayak or stand up paddle board to explore the Lake or do the ‘bridge to bridge’ walk around the inner basin, stopping off at attractions along the way. The MV Southern Cross and Lake Burley Griffin Cruises offer a more leisurely way to sightsee.

SOMETHING FOR THE SPORTS LOVER Autumn sees the kick off of the AFL, NRL and Super Rugby seasons. Head along to UNSW Canberra Oval to see the GWS Giants men’s and women’s teams compete in the AFL. If NRL is your sport of choice, autumn sees the Canberra Raiders host six home games at GIO Stadium. We’ll also see the Brumbies continue their season with matches against the Waratahs, Lions, Blues, Sunwolves and Bulls at GIO Stadium. For all the keen runners out there, enter the Australian Running Festival (13–15 April), and raise
money for charity by taking part in the 5km + 10km fun runs, half marathon, marathon or the ultra-marathon! From Super Rugby to cycling, there’s something for all sports spectators and participants this autumn.
