Sign language at Macmillan morning

Sign language at charity coffee morning!

To celebrate International Sign Language Day at the end of October, colleagues gathered in OPH’s Conference Room, where an interactive lesson in British Sign Language was led by ACT’s own Angela Clifford-Hillman. Those who took part also purchased delicious cakes, raising more than £175 for Macmillan! After enjoying brownies, lemon drizzle cake and other delicacies, they were then seated for the sign-language class, taught by Angela, who works in ACT’s Health and Social Care Route. The event was also attended by ALS staff members and streamed over Teams.

Angela commented: “Everyone was engaging and trying out the signs, which was fantastic. My background is Mental Health and Learning disability, so I’ve learned a variation of different ways to use non-verbal communication, such as Makaton signing and now British Sign Language.”
