JGW+ is a tailored training and development programme designed for young adults like you.

Whether you’re unsure about your next steps or have a clear goal in mind, we provide the skills, qualifications, and experiences you need to succeed.

WHILEYOU earn learn

We offer three JGW+ pathways, known as strands. Our Learning Coaches will assess the best level for you and create a personalised learning plan tailored to your specific needs.

1. ENGAGEMENT

This is the perfect place to begin if you’re unsure about your career path or need guidance exploring your options. Your individual learning plan includes:

Centre-based learning opportunities

Short work trials with various employers in different sectors

Enrichment activities

Like volunteering, community projects, guest speakers, employer visits, entrepreneurship, wellbeing sessions, outings and more. These experiences aim to boost your confidence, explore interests and enhance your strengths.

On this strand, you will receive:

Up to £42 a week training allowance

Up to £11.70 a week for lunch

2. ADVANCEMENT

If you have a good sense of where you want to go or a particular career interest, the Advancement strand is perfect for you. Your individual learning plan will include:

Industry-focused work tasters and placements

A variety of relevant enrichment opportunities Including voluntary work, community projects, guest speakers, employer visits, enterprise activities, wellbeingfocused activities and trips and experiences

3. EMPLOYMENT

If you’re ready for full-time work and want to get into a job as soon as possible, this strand is for you. We’ll help you secure work placements, allowing you to gain hands-on experience while continuing your training. Your individual learning plan will include:

Prepare for employment with a focus on developing essential skills and understanding what to expect in the workplace through effective employability training

Employability sessions focussed on job search, job applications, and work-based behaviour

Interview technique training

A variety of enrichment activities that focus on job coaching, assisted job search and wage subsidy, in-work mentoring and employer liaison

When you get a job, instead of a training allowance you’ll earn a proper salary paid at least the National Minimum Wage.

On this strand, you will receive:

Up to £60 a week training allowance

Up to £19.50 a week for lunch

Support with travel costs

At ACT, our JGW+ Tutors provide the essential care, support, and guidance you need for your training. We also offer additional support to enhance your experience:

Safeguarding Officers and In-house Counsellors

Our team is here to support your mental health, learning journey, and personal challenges, offering a safe space for private discussions and resolutions.

Learning Coaches

Our Learning Coaches provide direction and support, focusing on your overall wellbeing.

World of Work Coaches

Our World of Work team assist with employment-related needs, from work experience to preparing for applications and interviews.

Support Assistants

Working with Tutors and Coaches, they ensure you stay engaged in your learning plan and provide personalised support for additional needs.

Learner Representative

Our Learner Representative ensures learners get the most from their experience. They are open to feedback and suggestions to improve your time with us, striving to make your experience the best it can be.
