You might be figuring out your next steps in education, searching for the right job opportunity or maybe you just need some support to get you there. That’s where our Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) programme can help!
JGW+ is a training and development programme for 16–19 year olds like you, who need the skills, qualifications and experience to get a job, or get into further training.
At ACT we’re all about having fun! It’s one of our core values, so that’s why we have developed a really exciting – and engaging – JGW+ enrichment programme for our learners. Our Enrichment Days are designed to ensure young people, like you, have access to unique opportunities.
JGW+ will provide you with the opportunity to take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities, which will support and enhance your learning.

Start date: Anytime
Duration: Six weeks to 12 months, depending on your needs
Eligibility: 16-19 years old, living in Wales, and currently not in full-time education or training
Earn: : You will earn up to £60 per week, receive a daily meal allowance, plus support with travelling expenses.
Qualification: Choose from a range of Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
Our purpose built campus situated in the heart of Cwmbran is the home for post 16 education in the Torfaen borough. The Torfaen Learning Zone, located next to Morrisons, offers state of the art facilities and is easily accessible by public transport.
What can I study at the Torfaen Learning Zone?
We now have over 30 A level subjects to choose from or you can opt for a vocational pathway and study for a career in Business, IT, Media, Art, Health and Social Care, Applied Science, Uniformed Protective Services or Sport. Support while you study
You may be eligible for £40/week EMA if you are between 16 and 18 or be able to access the Welsh Government Learning Grant if you are over 18. You may also be able to apply for the college FCF fund for help with travel and kit costs. More information can be found on

Jobs Growth Wales+ (16-19 years)
QS Training deliver fully funded JGW+ programmes for 16-19 year olds in the following industries:
• Electrical
• Construction
• Motor Vehicle
A JGW+ programme allows you to further your education whilst finding independence and pursusing a career that you feel passionate about.
It also allows you to receive a training allowance of £60 per week, gain Level 1 industry recognised qualifications and complete work trials with local employers.

Cwmbran Centre for Young People (‘CCYP’) is a friendly, engaging and welcoming ‘Training Facility and Dropin Centre’ for young people. We offer a wide range of training, services, and activities to support young people to develop life skills, confidence, resilience, and gain qualifications/ skills. The Centre provides recreational, educational, and fun social activities alongside information and support including counselling and mentoring.
Our Jobs Growth Wales+ contract is sub-contracted to the Centre by ACT and is specifically for young people between the ages of 16 and 19. The primary objective of Jobs Growth Wales+ is to equip young people with the skills, qualifications, and experience to enable them to progress at the earliest opportunity to learning at a higher level or to enter employment. Training is mainly active and practical through taking part in work experience, social enterprise, entrepreneurial and community projects.
The Apprenticeship programme enables young people who are in employment to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Youth Work. The Apprenticeship route offers an alternative entry into youth work and incorporates theory and work-based study. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills that are applicable to their role, including the underlying skills to work in the Youth Work sector. Our Apprenticeship contract is sub-contracted to the Centre by Pembrokeshire College.

What is Jobs Growth Wales+?
Jobs Growth Wales+ is designed to help 16-19 year olds fast forward to the next stage in life. You will get individual support to help with training, qualifications, and experience to give you the best chance at getting the job you deserve. The programme is designed with you in mind and allows you to take control of your own future.
Our Jobs Growth Wales+ programme is made up of three supportive strands:
Engagement - This will help you decide what to do next if you’re unsure. It’s a good place to start if you need more support.
Advancement - If you know what sector you want to work in, we will provide specific activities to strengthen your skills and gain experience with local employers.
Employment - If you know what job you want, you’re looking, and ready to start working, we will work with you to find the right job opportunity with local employers, you’ll become part of a company and earn a wage.

Preparing life for what you’ll throw at it.
At the Military Academy, we believe that through outstanding leadership and teaching, all can achieve their goals.
The Military Academy is a unique training college that helps 16-19 year-olds develop their fitness, vocational qualifications, and employability skills to help prepare for employment, including rewarding careers in the British Armed Forces.
Physical Training
You will be expected to participate in physical training every day at MPCT. This makes up for 50% of the course at MPCT and will support learner preparation and progression into the military.
Education
During your time at MPCT you can expect to achieve valuable Essential Skills Qualifications in Application
of Number, Communication, and up to a Level 1 Diploma in Preparation for Military Service. This qualification will help you gain the knowledge and skills for a successful career in the armed forces.
Military Training
Our courses are designed to give learners the skills needed to start their journey towards a rewarding career in the British Armed Forces or to progress on to further education or training. Problem-solving and leadership skills are essential in the Armed Forces and civilian employment. Learners will take part in a range of problemsolving activities both in the field and in academic lessons. The ability to work effectively as a team member will be essential to your success.

Learn, Earn and Develop New Skills
Perfect for 16-18 year olds, our two JGW+ programmes offer you the chance to improve literacy and numeracy, earn qualifications, take part in team building events and hear from specialist guest speakers.
• Earn up to £60 a week (depending on hours of attendance)
• Enjoy volunteering and community projects
• Benefit from work experience
• Learn about working in and running a business
• Gain industry recognised qualifications in social care, retail, customer service, warehousing or IT
• Develop interview skills and your CV
• Hear guest speakers from the South Wales Police and Big Ideas Wales
• Take First Aid training
The programme is FREE, travel expenses are covered, you will receive a £3.90 daily meal allowance and you don’t need any qualifications to take part.

CfW+
These projects support young people aged 16 to 24 who are not in education, or employment or training.
They offer employability support including CV writing, application form support, interview preparation and can help with travel support and clothing or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
They can provide support with accessing work-based learning or college and/or help with other issues such as financial management and health and fitness etc.
They can provide support for people to access free work-related qualifications, for example:
• Work Related Quals - H&S level 2 in construction/CSCS card; forklift license; food hygiene; customer service, manual handling etc.
• Basic skills - literacy, numeracy and ICT.
