Ecological Research Center
The culmination of second year fall studio is an ecological research outpost sited in Beacon, New York. For this project, our studio researched the site, the local biosphere, and speculated what would happen in the future were this site to be left to regrow without human interference. From this basis, research on landforms and elemental flows completed earlier in the semester was incorporated to create the basis of the center. This research defined the central section of the building, a large open, mixed use space that blends back into the natural landscape. The shaping of this lower section led to domed, programmed spaces, each of which explores a different relationship to the central section. The working pod floats out from the center, the lab spaces sit atop the common area, and the living quarters embeds into the main space.

Landform Analysis and Visualization
This exercise kicked off the second year of studio by examining landforms and the processes by which they form and affect their surroundings. Specifically, the tower karst formations of South-East Asia were selected for study. These limestone towers are the product of water and wind erosion that create new wind patterns and areas of light and dark, which this work focused on. The first image is a layered wind flow simulation of the patterns of flow the fully formed karsts create. This examines the impact that the landscape has on the changeable conditions around its environment as well as how form shapes flow.

Wind flow Analysis
This second image is a data map of multiple environmental factors including the previous wind simulation as well as daylighting and shadow mapping. The darker areas represent areas that are most affected by the forms of the karsts, showing how the geometry of the land affects the flows of the environment. By exploring the data in isolation, the voids come to represent the footprints and heights of the various karsts as their effects cascade onto their surroundings. Environmental Factor Impacts

System-Ground Relations
Building off of the study of landforms completed initially as a part of second year studio, this exercise is the creation of a systemground relationship incorporating the ideas of flow from the previous project. These drawings were made to examine the relationships flows such as wind and water form to the ground as well as how they shape each other. This led to the development of a set of interactions between the flows and the ground itself which were then used to create a model of the system, exploring the two-way relationship and how they build upon each other.

Syracuse Youth Hostel
The final project of first year studio was a youth hostel for the Syracuse area. This design is set in a mixed use area, bordering a residential neighborhood and a commercial street. It is based on a triangular grid, angling the views from inside towards the social, public street and the views from the exterior towards the neighboring community garden space. The project is also based on a progression of privacy, where the building reflects the typology of the typical suburban home, progressing from a public “porch” and proceeding inside to social space before continuing further to reach the private rooms. This hostel design brings life and community to the neighborhood while responding directly to the existing precedent of its urban location.

Empty Gestures: A Study of the 2023 Venice Biennale During the summer of 2023, I took part in a study abroad program that visited Venice and the surrounding area to study the history of the region and the Venice Biennale. This poster series is a response to a selection of displays that were a part of the Biennale, specifically analyzing the aesthetics of protest used by many exhibitors. I felt that many of these displays contradicted their own messages with empty gestures, appearing to be against the Biennale while still happily taking part. These posters showcase the underlying immateriality behind these actions using the layering of digital renders, photographs, and quotes from the displays themselves.

Explorations in Representation
Completed as a part of representation II, these pieces are exercises in showcasing both abstract and literal form from different views using entourage. The first image is from a person’s perspective, using entourage to create a sense of bustling community. The focus of this assignment was on creating layered scenes using multiple techniques including vector image making, model texturing, rendering, and compositing.

This piece is an exploration of entourage and representation at a larger scale. The goal was to create many moments within a larger composition using the techniques and technologies we learned throughout the semester. In this work, abstract “proto-architecture” is used as a basis for the buildings and cityscape. These base 3D elements are then populated using the techniques explored in the previous image. Particular attention was given to a expressing many types of spaces from opaque facades, glimpses of building interiors, exterior space, green space, and even a construction site. 15
Student Organization Graphic Design
Club Text Logo
This work was completed as a part of re-branding efforts for two of the student organizations I am a part of; Orange Robotics and the Syracuse University Curling Club. For the curling club, I worked to update existing branding (right page, top right) as well as creating new designs for clothing and pins based on the sport. For Orange Robotics, I worked on creating a new text logo and a series of illustrations and updates to our mascot originally designed by Alex Callo. I worked to maintain the club’s existing personality while refining the visual language of our brand and introduce playful designs to be used in various club materials and merchandise. For each of these clubs, I created revisions and worked with Syracuse University to create designs that fit the needs and wants of the club as well as the requirements of the university’s branding.
