Welcome to the summer edition of BeatBox BotanicalS: Harriet’s Apothecary, a village of Black Women, Queer and Trans healers coming together to nurture and cultivate your body’s intuitive wisdom. We are so grateful you are taking care of yourself in this way and in turn taking care of the communities you are a part of. We hope that every moment you spend with us cultivates and inspires the best in your being and encourages the healing genius of your vessel.

The intention of Harriet’s Apothecary is to continue the rich healing legacy of Harriet Tubman.

Like our courageous ancestor, we intend to expand access to health and healing resources that support POC Women and Queer and Trans folks in their healing journeys. We also hope to connect individuals and communities to each other and to accessible self and community based resources that are rooted in the wisdom of our bodies, our ancestors and our plant families.

This is an intentional space for self-identified POC/Indigenous/Mixed race Women and Queer and Trans folks and the allies that love them.

We are deeply invested in creating a space where each person feels welcome at all times.

We invite you to co-create a space of love, growth, compassion, respect and healing that honors the intricate beautiful identities and energies we each hold. To the best of your ability, lovingly challenge your self to walk with us in the following agreements.

healing and loving community agreements •

Set a loving intention for your time at Harriet's Apothecary. How do you want to love yourself while you are present? In what ways do you want to grow?

What do you want to be open to? How do you want to embody the love that is you?

Release judgments, preconceived notions, your ego and your fears. Lovingly challenge yourself to be open without attachment to outcomes. Allow whatever needs to manifest arise in order to be fully present to yourself and the community you will be with.

Be present to your truth. Practice actively listening to what might be arising for you as you are in the space. Reach out for support if needed. There will be folks identified to meet your needs to the best of their ability.

Practice active listening with each other, making a conscious effort to hear and understand what others are sharing.

•

Be aware of language that you use to address and/or connect with people. Many words have been used to historically oppress folks. Lets participate in engaging in language that is liberatory and loving with each other.

Please honor people's pronouns and gender identities, whatever they may be. Allow people to self-identify their gender and preferred pronouns to describe who they are (e.g. he/him/his/she/her/they/them/their/z/hirs)

•

Be humbly and compassionately self aware and curious about the pervasive ways privilege and oppression, both across and within identity groups, impacts us all. Be accountable to the impact of your actions to yourself and this community.

BeatBox Botanicals is a local, sliding-scale, love-centered and community-inspired, plant medicine and healing practice. Rooted in the traditions of our ancestors, we use compassion, your body’s intuitive experience, and plant wisdom to handcraft medicine that restores and expands our body’s abilities to heal and to love. we work with herbs and our bodies as tools for healing, reclaiming our individual and collective wisdom, and nurturing sustainable relationships with the Earth. We create customized medicinal herbal products based on what your body’s needs and truths are. We offer individualized and community health consultations, skill-shares, and workshops. We support liberation and justice movements committed to healing. we specialize in medicine that expands the capacities of the heart and our innate abilities to Love.

We believe that love is the most transformative force in the Universe and exists abundantly in all of us.

Investing in our love practice allows us to live out our Divine purpose. we are dedicated to the traditions and sustainability of plant medicine, using only organic and ethically wild-crafted plants and ingredients. We source ingredients from local urban gardens and farms first, and when that option is not available we acquire herbs from responsible and fair trade companies. Each herb medicinal is handcrafted and brewed with reverence for the plants and land they come from. 90% of our medicine is made during the full and new moon to evoke the energy of the Moon’s wisdom and magik. we understand that transforming our world is deeply tied to the vitality of our minds, bodies and spirits and the spaces where we conjure up our liberation and justice magic. Transformation and liberation can

not be sustained if we do not individually and collectively prioritize the healing and reflective work necessary to keep us alive and thriving. we believe investing in love and our own and each other’s healing, engages us in a rich legacy of resistance and decolonization, one that has sustained our ancestors and movements and in turn will strengthen us and enrich us for the long haul. our work is inspired by the manifestation of love in and around us. The wisdom of our ancestors. The miraculous nature of our unshakable bodies’ intuition. The legacy of individuals and communities who have used healing and wellness as a tool for justice and liberation. The creative genius of indigenous and people of color, and queer and trans and two-spirit folk. The brilliance of sick and differently abled warriors. Loving-kindness meditation. Laughter. The Moon. The gifts of Nature. Intimacy with the Earth. we look forward to lovingly and authentically journeying with you towards healing and caring for ourselves and each other and expanding the wholeness that already resides within us.

HARRIET’S APOTHECARY HEALING MENU Acupuncture and acupressure Acupuncture is a healing practice stemming over 2000 years old used in both Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture honors the energetic pathways, or channels, throughout the body that influence associated internal organs and structures. Energy from these pathways surfaces at various points on the body, identified as acupuncture points. Each of these acupuncture points serves as a tunnel, or access route, to the deeper circulatory channels within. Extremely fine gauge needles are inserted at selected points, stimulating these points and thereby activating the body’s natural healing abilities. Acupressure is acupuncture without the needles. Instead of needles, acupressure involves the application of manual pressure (usually with the fingertips) to specific points on the body.

ayurvedic health management Ayurvedic health management consultations focus on optimizing physical, mental, and spiritual health from an Ayurvedic perspective. Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing.

arts-based herbalism workshop Come learn how to make your own herbal salves and syrups while using sacred herbs to inspire learning, spark movement , preserve culture and nurture community. This participatory arts-based experience will explore history, justice, oppression, peacebuilding and reconciliation.

Bliss Puddle Body Work This practice offers compassionate, intuitive, healing touch, listening deeply to your body’s signals to relieve tension and open the energy meridians (sen lines) of your body. Energy blockages are released, boundaries dissolve and deep healing occurs in a space of presence and meditation. Drawing from Thai Yoga Massage techniques, your session will compose of a series of opening postures, dynamic alignment, deep tissue release, restorative acupressure and soothing touch.

flower essences and self love Together we will be utilizing flower essences to bridge the physical and spiritual healing power of flowers. A flower essence is the spiritual and healing energy of flowers imprinted in water. The purpose of this workshop is to create a deep healing of the heart, and to cultivate self-love and compassion.

Divinatory Pendulum Readings This healing technique employs a rose quartz crystal for a divination of the elemental energy in the body deciphered through the meridians (energy channels) running through the hands and fingers. The pendulum reading reveals plant medicines and self-care rituals to balance and enhance each element in the body.

Herbalism Love Consultations Working with your body as a guide and healing tool, we will explore what your body’s current needs and truths are and compassionately discover the roots of present distress. Together, we will identify what plant medicine and intuitive rituals your body desires to reclaim wellness and nurture love and wellbeing throughout your mind, body, spirit, soul vessel.

Mindfulness Meditation Mindfulness meditation practice allows our inner most voice the opportunity to speak, to be heard compassionately by our bodies, and to be released from entanglement and freed from judgement through loving kindness. This will be an opportunity to ground into our beings and integrate the new openness and healing we have received throughout the day. Using our own breath as guide, we will journey into a place of deep listening to our heart’s intelligence and reverent awareness to the temples that house our souls.

Healer~Naima Penniman Donations offered to EVERYONE

Reiki Reiki is an energetic healing practice channeling and directing energy through touch to activate the natural healing processes of the healing person's body and restore well-being. Reiki energy healing sessions can help (re)move/clear energetic blockages. Sessions are offered in increments of 5 minutes, we will focus the healing based on clients needs/desires and healer intuition. Sessions that are longer than 15 minutes are opportunities for more in-depth and/or whole body healing work.

Re-evaluation counseling In an intimate, small group setting people will explore the theory and practice of Re-evaluation Counseling. RC is a process for freeing humans and society as a whole from distress patterns so that we may resume fully-intelligent functioning. Re-evaluation Counseling is practiced in pairs, by people listening to each other and assisting each other to release painful emotions. In this session you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings about ʺ″motherʺ″ and discover how the simple art of listening can free our hearts and awaken our spirits.
