Editor’s letter I am not going to blow smoke up your rear end and claim that the new year comes with new opportunities nor will I promise that 2019 will be kind to us. The truth is new opportunities only change the energy you give. So because Five 75 is real we didn’t want to push the new year’s cliché of how a new year, means a new you. The truth is we all have made b.s resolutions that we’ll forget by April and reimagine at the end of the year just in time for the next new year. So we’re giving you manuals for the new year, from how to handle money and build wealth to sex and relationships . We also come through with entertainment, fashion, sport and events, new to five star. We also had the opportunity to chill with OutrageSA and explore the talent that is Kenyan photographer Tapiwa Chitaukire as he premieres new, never before seen work in Cool People on Five. But more importantly we had fun compiling this issue. I would like to take time to acknowledge all the contributions the team has made. Here is to another year of new heights and territories. To the readers, you guys are awesome. Thank you for using your data to read our creation. Enjoy mntase

The South African Hip-Hop Awards
Hip Hop lovers came in their numbers to celebrate and support South African Hip Hop talent. Some of the biggest highlights of the night has to be; Moozlie, who walked away with the award for best female. Kwesta was the biggest highlight of the night with away with a grand six awards which included, Best video, Hustler of the year and song of the year to name but a few. The best part of the night definitely had to be the special tribute to our fallen heroes Ben Sharpa, PRO and HHP. The night was overall a good night regardless of the unruly crowd, that would not give speakers time to speak. Congratulations to all the nominees and the winners. We look forward to seeing more great work in 2019.

All famous car brands go to their factories to build monsters in the hopes that they defeat the gruelling courses that are set out around the world and the other competitors too. Its amazing to watch.

Track munching SUVs have recently become a mainstay of the upper class’s driveway. These things are awesome. They have all the space in the world to pack everything you need when you’re moving on Monday and they can tear up the racetrack on Saturday and the BMW X5 M is up there with the best of them. he holidays have come to an end and some of you may have found yourself not only entering the new year but also committing yourself to a new relationship. How to go about it:
If you are sexually active, get tested regularly and ask your partner when last they were tested as well. It is suggested to go for a check-up every 6 months, you and your partner could even do this routine check-up together. The use of condoms has other important benefits as well. Condoms not only greatly lower the risk of getting infected but they mostly prevent unwanted pregnancies as well. If you are in a committed relationship and choose to forgo condoms after a certain period, by all means do so. However, everything comes with a conversation, as well as consequence. With this in mind, enjoy yourselves BUT safely so. Remember to use lubricant and to be experimental. I am certain that your sex life will be more than satisfactory.
New Year, Same Ol’ Problems. Written by Lawrence Adams Picture byFreddie Collins
Almost every single person I’ve spoken to about the new year said the same thing about their hustle, they want to make money from it. It makes sense because nobody, no matter how nice they are, goes into business to not make money. The objective of the hustle is to create value for a group of people who will be willing to exchange cash for that value.
Financial education
Every Festive Season I put away about 10 books away that I will read in order to deal with problems I and those close to me personally face. In 2018 I found myself gravitating towards books on financial education and the importance of it. I read a post by Terrence Maduna, a Facebook friend of mine who said “Financial education at a young age is very important. An 18 year old oja R100 abae qete antsa reka Mayo, leleme le di Go slow.” I spent a lot of time reading and found these steps to building wealth because let’s face it every hustlers wants to be a baller one day. So here are some steps that’ll get you there.
1.
Multiple sources of income
No matter how small it is wealth start from a source of income because wealth is basically owning multiple sources of income keeps your bank account full and shining
2.
Live below your means
One of our biggest problems is that we live either above (using credit) or just equal to our means (two weeks after getting money you are broke again) and this goes back to our knowledge of comprehending the difference between a need and a want. Nicolette Mashile on her page Financial Literacy Wit Nicolette Mashile made a video on how she became a millionaire by mistake. She just lived below her means and saved any excess amount she had, regardless of how much she earned or which shoe or dress came into fashion.
3. Self-discipline
This is probably the hardest thing to do because you are the final authority and you can overrule yourself at any time. Selfdiscipline is one of the biggest reasons ballers ball. They come up with a plan, a budget or program and they stick to it no matter how difficult it is. No matter what it is you want to excel in, you have to practice self-discipline. I am reading this book called the richest man in Babylon and a statement that stood out for me in it went something like “for if a man desires something and is disciplined enough to work towards it, surely he will obtain it
4.Invest
This step is crucial, never will you in a million years become wealthy (have multiple sources of income) if you just saved your money. Yes saving money is good but you save in order to get money togethe in order to invest. I saw a picture of the net that compared the budgeting of a billionaire against that of a normal working class individual and on it the billionaire invested 75% of their net income, spent 15% on their needs, 5% on their wants and gave 5% to charity. Whether it is a company, your education or mutual funds put your money to work so it can bring with it more money.
5.
Increase your ability to earn
Learn something new, do research and always try to improve who you are and the knowledge you have. Always increase your ability to earn.
Cool People on Five presents
TAPIWA CHITAUKIRE Photographer extraordinaire
Tapiwa Chitaukire is a 25 year old photographer from Kenya who goes by @captaintenacious on Instagram. Chitaukire creates artistic, vividly cool portraits that line his Instagram with likes and his pockets with money. Photographers are the kind of people who take what there is in the world and make it beautiful. We asked him some questions to find out how he views the world with and without the camera held up to his face
Who or what is your biggest inspiration? I don’t think there was any inspiration from the jump. We always had a camera in the house and it never interested me for the longest time. One day I decided to play around with it and take some shots of my siblings, back in 2010. Fast forward to 2014 I started taking pics of my friends and the more I did it, the more I loved it. The way it made me feel became my inspiration
Do you think the profession is threatened by the advent of smartphones and filters? No. I believe that as long as you have a story to tell, no one or nothing can tell it for you. At the end of the day it’s not a competition
Has social media work helped produce better work? Yes and no. The ability to view other peoples’ work has definitely played a role in finding inspiration and ideas to build from. On the other hand, I feel like as a creative, one should also strive to be unique and aspire to produce work that will also inspire others to do better… Social medias role is somewhat similar to that of art galleries, books and portfolios in the past but now more easily accessible.
What is the greatest benefit social media gave the arts? The ability to share your work on a global platform has to be one of the greatest benefits that social media has brought.
How vital is collaboration in photography and art in general? Collaboration, in my view, is a form of teamwork with the intent of achieving a common goal – in this case any given project or body of work. Teamwork in any given sector is vital however what determines whether the collaboration is vital or not is growth. Whether the growth is intellectual, financial or its simply for the exposure.
What makes your work your own? I really try to express my creativity through each model/ muse I shoot. Anything else that an image I shot may invoke is completely upon the beholder

Perhaps that is the key to winning at this, to prepare more than we expect.
H
ave you looked forward to your birthday so much that you started hyping it up with count-downs and then when the day finally came it was as though it was just another Tuesday? You can blame your high expectations for that bummed out feeling. Those of you who are very sensitive to negativity should brace yourselves for this one. It’s going to get real. For starters... Stop expecting so damn much. The higher your expectations are, the more impact the fall into disappointment will be. A lot of things aren’t going to happen the way we would hope for them to happen and that’s just how life goes. It would hurt a lot less when things go wrong if we were armed with low expectations. That doesn’t mean we should go through life expecting the worst though. This is one of the biggest constants that we need to deal with in order to live our lives to the
fullest: Everything must be done in moderation. Nothing should ever be overdone, no matter how great it is. Equally, nothing should be underdone (unless it’s ‘tin fish’... Or drugs). Expectations are just the same. They need not be overdone in case you hurt yourself but they need not be underdone in case the greatness you were waiting for finds you unprepared. Perhaps that is the key to winning at this. To prepare more than we expect. If we come to everything prepared for the worst case scenario we’ll be able to handle it so much better when it comes around. There wouldn’t be as much wailing and gnashing of teeth as there would be exclamations of “I’ve got this!” So as we go into a new year with new challenges ahead of us let us not expect so much from life that we end up jinxing ourselves with our own expectations. Let’s learn to prepare more and expect just a little less. (That wasn’t so negative was it?)

OutrageSA They are art In motion
by Nkanyezi Gumede Photoraphy by Blacklit Media Location: African Flavour Art Gallery
“To dance is to be out of yourself, Larger, more beautiful. This is power this is glory on Earth.” - Agnes De Mille
S
elf expression is a freedom that humanity has fought for from the moment they figured out that they can move their lips and make noises come out of them. We have always wanted to say how we feel or show it to others and we are always finding new ways. Dancers do that with their bodies. Words alone don’t seem to surfice and that is okay because through this we get to see art in motion.
their stories of orrow, loss, excitement, fulfilment and pure joy. Dance has always been something that us South Africans just can’t get enough of and for a good reason. It’s great.
The art comes from the meaning that these people derive from the movement of their souls through their physical bodies. They move and their souls speak. They shout their glory, they sing their madness and they tell us
Nathi Cloud Sibinda, Lundi Sibinda, Nonhlanhla Shabalala, Thabiso Lekena and Sbusiso Mkhonza make up OutrageSA, a dance crew based in Johannesburg that aims to take dance to new heights in South Africa.
OutrageSA are a group of people who speak the language of dance fluently. They grasp this form of self expression with all ten of their hands and hold on tight. To them this expression is ecstacy.
OutrageSA’s Nonhlanhla, Lundi and Nathi The group, that was officially established in 2016, has worked with both local and international acts like Subliminal (an Israeli performer who’s music video featured the crew and was shot in Cape Town), Sho Madjozi, Superstar ME (A Nigerian artist who is now based in South Africa) and our very own Moonchild, with whom they are currently working. They have performed on stages both big and small with crowd capacities ranging from 2 million people to a group of high school students in Bophelong. They see themselves as “one of the biggest dance groups in SA’ in ten years’ time and a great way to do that would be through the academy they’d like to start to help unfortunate kids who can’t get into
dance schools or access facilities that could help them grow their talent. The crew has performed on platforms like Afropunk and Back To The City backing up various artists but that is not all they’re coming for. They don’t just want to back headliners up, they want to be the headlinerrs. This vision showcases exactly what Nonhlanhla meant when she said “Outrage is all about taking big steps.” These new school cool kids are coming for everything. There are some big moves in the works that’ll reverberate that to the masses but even we weren’t allowed to know what the specifics were. Follow them and see for yourself. They’re OutrageSA on Facebook and on Instagram they are @Outrage_sa.

Motivation will not give you your dream car, or your dream house; it will not give you your degree; it won’t make you finish your matric or give you your dream job. HOW TO KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE by Dawn Barendse
A
s the year begins, I thought it would be a great idea to initiate some self-care energy. Before going in too deep and overloading you with information, let’s start small on this self-care 2019 journey. If you want to take care of your skin, you need to know what type of skin you are catering to first. There are three main types of skintypes: Oily, Dry or a Combination.
If your T-Zone is oily, you have oily skin. If your T-zone is oily and your C-Zone is dry, you have normal skin. If your T-Zone and your C-Zone are dry, you have dry skin. To identify your specific skin-type, at night before you sleep, wash your face really well. Do not apply moisturizer, simply let your skin dry naturally. When you wake up in the morning, the first thing to do is touch your skin, first evaluate your T-Zone which is your forehead, nose, area around the nose and your chin. Secondly, your C-Zone which is your outer portion of your face. Look at it more visually, look into the mirror and look at the center zone of your face, if you have wide open pores that do not look fresh – it looks little darker than before and if it looks tired, you have oily skin and/or skin that can easily get acne (acne-prone skin). Further, if your skin is tightly stretched, fresh, well-rested, and if it is nice and smooth, you have normal or just dry skin. However, if your skin looks red, feels a little bit irritated and sensitive or even flaky in some
areas, you have dry skin and/or extremely dry skin or sensitive skin when it appears red. You can also confirm your skin type by, splashing water on your face for the first time for the day (morning), if it burns and when you apply moisturizer it burns even more – you have dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin that needs extra care. However, it is important to note that your skin-type may change depending on a lot of factors such as health, age, season, temperature, pollution, smoking and many other factors. As your skin changes, you need to change your skin care routine according to the type of skin it is. This is article is based on a lecture done by DR. Rashini Shetty, a skin care expert. I’m scurrying around for old thoughts. I’m avoiding all the feelings caught. I’ve learnt that life needs you to be a humble beast. The old year has taught me that at least. I didn’t learn much from it, But I did gather that praying needed to be first on thee list. I hugged and begged a lot. I survived and I have even kissed. Through all that, life lessons are the classes I never missed. Judge me on my academic progress and not my past. Mock me about my failed relationships that did not last, but don’t make thee mistake of advertising my flaws. If that’s what you choose then I’ll choose your face and wipe the floors. I don’t regret anything, I am still thee old me, but I am now in this New Year as an informed being. My resolutions may differ but my soul is still as free. It might me a New Year but I’m still me… Thee old Me
THE END
