PRESENTATION During the last years, technological advances in the educational area have exceeded all expectations. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Born in Bolivia, Adan Dennis Zegarrundo Torrico has been teaching English and Spanish for more than ten years; most of those at Centro Boliviano Americano La Paz, two years at Minera San Cristóbal in Potosí, La Salle School, among other ELT institutions. He is currently part of the family at CBA Sucre for more than a year, sharing all his experience and knowledge with both his students and colleagues. INTRODUCTION $336 )25 7+( &/$66 is more than just cellphone applications, it is a tool full of resources for teachers, students, and even parents. All in all, the community of the teaching and learning process. This handbook is intended mainly for educators since we are the facilitators of this mentioned process in HGXFDWLRQ 7KXV ZH DUH VXSSRVHG WR Ă€UVW WU\ WKHVH DSSV DVN for advise to colleagues, or do some research in advance. In other words, have the openness to use different methodologies, strategies, techniques, and tools. Moreover in the present time in which technology is taking over our lives. As Hari Krishna Arya mentioned, “Teachers will not be replaced by technology, but teachers who do not use technology will be replaced by those who do.â€? 7KHVH DSSV FDQ DOVR EH XVHG E\ ()/ (6/ students to learn the language from a different approach, for more practice at home, on-the-go to class, even in class, anywhere you carry your smartphone, your best learning companion. Being an autonomous learner gives more freedom, however, you may want to share these apps with your classmates so you learn the double by teaching them. 3DUHQWV ZLOO DOVR Ă€QG LQ WKHVH FHOOSKRQH DSSOLFDWLRQV D ZD\ WR KHOS WKHLU kids improve their level of English and see real results if they are used appropriately. Moreover, mothers and fathers have the chance to oversee what their kids are doing in social networks given the fact that they know how these apps work. Another aspect to mention about this handbook is the varied list of apps the UHDGHU ZLOO Ă€QG LQ LW , JDWKHUHG DOO WKH DSSV , KDYH EHHQ XVLQJ WKURXJKRXW WKHVH \HDUV it means that most, if not all, have been tested out in my classes one way or another and they are proved to work for classroom use. HOW TO USE THIS HANDBOOK 1st. If you feel you don’t know how this works, ask for help. Many people, friends, colleagues and students are already familiar with this process. 4th. This handbook is not considered just for English teachers, but also for school teachers, university professors, etc. For students, most of the apps should be used in class, thus they will be part of the learning process, and most importantly, having fun. The apps also prompt autonomous learning. For parents because they have an important role in education. Some of the apps are also designed for them in order to keep track of what their kids do at school. Teach children and teenagers to surf the net safely. Writer’s choice refers to my favorite apps, used in a daily basis, not only in my classes, but also in my life. Also highly suggested apps. Ad-Free means that the app has no advertising which support the developer somehow. In this edition, I tried to join most of adfree apps. Take advantage of that while it is possible. uring academic writing, authors always require a variety of words and phrases in order to avoid repetition and overuse. Having a variety of words in any piece of academic writing adds strength, readability, professionalism and makes the work easy to comprehend. This smartphone application offers authors a large variety of words to choose from. It opens with a paragraph model and displays the four stages that constitute a typical paragraph. Tapping each one of these stages offers a list of words and phrases relevant to that stage. Each of these, in turn, when tapped provide a list of examples of their use. The key element in its design lies in its simplicity, convenience and ease of use. There are no requirements to register and neither does it require any other details of the user. It has been designed by academics with many years of experience in pedagogical practice as it was felt that the increasing overuse of certain words and phrases leads to poor and sub-standard work by students. The design is based on an established, successful and widely-used model of paragraph writing.
