The ADAVB is committed to the oral health of all Victorians and the professional lives of its members.

ABOUT THE ADAVB

The ADAVB is the professional association of Victorian dentists which aims to improve the oral health of all Victorians, promote the highest standards of professional dental care and enhance the professional lives of members. The ADAVB provides services and information to members, undertakes extensive government liaison and advocacy activities and maintains strong links with Victoria’s two dental schools – La Trobe University and The University of Melbourne.

PRESIDENT Dr Kevin Morris BDSc(Melb.) GradDipClinDent(Syd.) FRACDS DCD(Perio) FRACDS(Perio) Kevin is a specialist periodontist who practices in both the private and public sectors. He was elected to Council in 2014 and has served on a number of committees since then.

CEO Clin A/Prof Matthew Hopcraft BDSc, MDSc, BA PhD, FICD Matthew is a public health dentist who has held roles in public and private dental practice, teaching and research. He previously served on Branch and Federal Councils and was Branch President in 2011/12.

Membership consists of over 3800 dentists in private and public practice, along with students, new graduates and international dental graduates.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

The ADAVB provides information to the public on dental matters such as treatment, privacy isues and dental fees. A patient helpline is available to assist patients with issues with Guild insured members. As Professional Consultants they can advise all members on general professional or clinical matters, as long as the matter would not be considered a notifiable event under an indemnity insurance policy. The ADAVB was formed in 1928 through the amalgamation of the Odontological Society of Victoria (est. 1884) and the Australian College of Dentistry Alumni Society (est. 1915). The ADAVB was formally incorporated in 1991.

The ADAVB is a member of the federated organisation, the Australian Dental Association Inc., and provides members with automatic membership of the federal association.
