CPR and defibrillation training BRIEF This session is devoted to management of emergencies and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation for the dental team.
LEARNING OUTCOMES This training is designed to provide dental professionals and their team with knowledge and skills to: recognise the sick patient and responding to the medical emergency carry out team CPR, use of airway adjuncts and your defibrillator (AED) manage the immediate care of medical emergencies utilising a practice management (crew resource management) system.

Mr Shane Hawkinson Mr Shane Hawkinson is from Nebraska. He served in the United States Navy before becoming a specialist educator in advanced resuscitation and pre-hospital ambulance care and the Victorian Training Manager for Cynergex Group. Shane trained as a United States Naval Corpsman and worked in navy hospitals and at major naval bases in the US and Japan. He also served as a front-line medic for the US Marine Corps in Iraq and the Pacific. Following his discharge, he arrived in Tasmania and completed a degree in Marine Technology Management. In Melbourne, Shane worked with the ambulance industry in a number of front line and support roles prior to recruitment by Cynergex Group as an ambulance and advanced life support instructor.
