Discoloured anterior teeth TOPICS AND PRESENTERS Diagnosis and aetiology Professor Laurie Walsh
This lecture will provide a structured approach to the assessment of extrinsic and intrinsic discolouration and the chronology of various forms of pre- and post-eruptive discolouration. Specific mention will be made of particular forms of tooth discolouration that are poorly responsive to common bleaching methods and of better treatment options. The use of bleaching agents Dr Michael Yoon A discoloured anterior tooth is highly undesirable for the patient. It is not uncommon for these teeth to have a history of trauma and/or previous endodontic treatment. This lecture will explore external and internal bleaching techniques and what works best in certain situations.
Covering it up—direct and indirect veneers Dr Kunal Pandya Masking discolouration or rebuilding large amounts of tooth can be clinically challenging, particularly when striving to achieve acceptable outcomes in a conservative manner. That said, knowing when a case may be difficult and having some knowledge and tricks up your sleeve can help you to satisfy your patients and achieve good results.
LEARNING OUTCOMES At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
recognise common factors that contribute to intrinsic discolouration of vital teeth
understand the possible complications associated with bleaching
appreciate the multifactorial nature of discolouraton in non-vital teeth, including the effects of endodontic treatment
identify which approaches will work best in various situations learn practical tips and guidelines for the relevant procedures.
identify which cases will be suitable for bleaching determine which bleaching agents and techniques are the most effective
