EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES The following recommendations for changes to the existing Rules are reduce the number of Council and Executive Committee meetings from eight to six occasions in every calendar year.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE ADAVB INC. RULES TO BE CONSIDEREDAT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ON 14 OCTOBER 2019 CONSTITUTION OF AUSTRALIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION, VICTORIAN BRANCH INCORPORATED PROCEEDINGS OF COUNCIL 52.

Meetings The Branch Council shall meet in person at such times and places as the Branch Council decides but on not less than eight six occasions in every calendar year and at least once every two months, unless for special reasons the Branch Council shall decide otherwise. Special meetings may be convened at any time when so directed by the President or by any three members of the Branch Council. PROCEEDINGS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Meetings

Not less than 7 days' notice of any such meeting shall be given to every member of the Executive Committee. The President or any other three members of the Executive Committee shall have the power to call a meeting of the Executive Committee by giving not less than 24 hours written notice specifying the time and place for the meeting to all members of the Executive Committee.

Emergencies are unscheduled visits by patients in severe pain, suffering from swelling or after sustaining dental trauma and usually under emotional distress.

Interface Between Medicine and Dentistry "When did you last refer a patient to the dentist and why? Refresh and update your knowledge on dentistry and its relevance to general health"

The causal relationship between oral diseases and systemic conditions now extends beyond cardiovascular disease and includes diabetes, respiratory disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Similarly, systemic diseases are often associated with oral manifestations that require dental assessment and specialist management. It is therefore important that your everyday practice is informed by the evidence base of the links between oral and general health. Temporomandibular Dysfunction A multidisciplinary approach

"Very accessible, evidence-based and contemporary information" - 2019 TMD course participant Due to popular demand the Melbourne Dental School is pleased to offer a second intake for this clinically orientated and practice relevant program.

• Conservative management and physiotherapy

The multifactorial nature of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) has caused much confusion about this condition in the past. This course brings together several specialists to present a multidisciplinary approach, as the optimum way to diagnose and manage TMD.
