Ministries Worth Supporting I will get a letter and questionnaire several times a year, requesting information on a minister who has applied for financial assistance from Aged Ministers Assistance (AMA) in Springfield. Most of the time I am unaware of the minister’s need. However, I am happy to answer the questions and also make as many funds available as possible from our general fund. These individuals have given their lives to the ministry, oftentimes without adequate remuneration. Getting to the end of their life, they find themselves trying to live solely from Social Security, which is often totally inadequate. AMA gauges their support on the total income of the ministry: $1,509.00 for a couple and $1,006.00 for an individual. You might ask, do we have ministers who are trying to live on that small income? The answer is YES. A number of years ago a fund was established to assist our ministers. Through our ministers emergency fund we have assisted many with one-time gifts and others with monthly support. The amount we give depends on the balance we have, usually. However, you may find that we have ended some years with more going out than coming in. We owe those who have gone before us. We are standing on their shoulders and enjoying a walk on the trails they blazed. We could never do enough to aid them. They should never be forgotten or forsaken. I am appealing to every minister and church to support AMA and the district ministers emergency fund. Both are needed to assure our pioneers of our love and concern, and their financial freedom. Please send your checks of any size payable to the district general fund, designated Minister Emergency Fund. Alabama Teen Challenge began in Birmingham in 1972 by concerned Christians. The first building was a twostory residence. Now there are four centers scattered over Alabama: Lincoln, Selma, Bay Minette, and a ladies center in Hayden. The ministry, now under the leadership of Executive Director Robert Angels, is still pouring into the lives of those with life-controlling problems. Hundreds of men and women have found Jesus as the answer to their problems and are living productive lives, honoring the Lord. Many others are getting the help they need right now because the doors are still open. Let me encourage you to invest in this worthy ministry. You may do so in a number of ways: volunteer your time and labor, contribute financially one time or on a monthly basis, pray for those who are coaching and teaching the students, and by sharing the ministries’ need with others. To support Alabama Teen Challenge monthly, send your gifts to ALATC, P.O. Box 270, Lincoln, AL 35096, or you may send it to the district to receive district missions credit. Alabama Prison Ministries was started a number of years ago by Chaplains Steve and Esther Walker, ordained Assemblies of God ministry. As a result of this ministry a number of men and women have receive a Bible education, enabling them to succeed as they return to freedom. The excitement of those receiving this assistance while incarcerated is overwhelming. They are so thankful that they aren’t forgotten. The testimonies of those who have been released are touching. The families who are having their mom or dad return are grateful that someone cared. Please consider supporting this ministry financially. You may do so by sending your contributions to my office, designated Alabama Prison Ministries. Great will be the reward to those who assisted those who were imprisoned.

Rev. Ken Draughon ALABAMA DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT ds@adcag.org

Our 103rd Alabama District Council begins Monday, April 23rd at Montgomery First Assembly of God, 135 Bell Road. Our theme is “Pray for the Impossible.” I am so excited to have as our guest, Pastor Jim Cymbala of Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York. He is a renowned writer and speaker around the world. I am expecting a supernatural presence of God’s Spirit and an amazing gathering at this council. Please join me in prayer for this important gathering of our fellowship. We are planning a state-wide video live streaming prayer gathering calling on heaven for a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit among our churches and around the world. We’ll let you know when and where that will be. Numbers chapter 13 and 14 tells the story of a people called Israel. They had come to a comfortable place at Kadesh Barnea. God had given them everything they needed, but now He was getting ready to call them out of their comfort zone. Look at part of the story in chapter 13: “But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight” (Numbers 13:31-33). God challenged them to step out of their “comfort zone” and begin to operate in the “faith zone.” It’s easy to live for God when everything is going our way and there are no obstacles to overcome. When God invites us to step up and do a work for Him—He prepares the way. Notice that verse two says, “the land …I am giving.” This is stated in the present tense even though Israel had not yet even entered the Promised Land. God will “draw” you out into the “faith zone” where faith is required to accomplish the task, but He will always go ahead of you. The principle here is simple and yet missed by so many Christians. We are called to do much for God, but He has already prepared the way for us to do all of those things. All we are called to do is to walk in obedience, so God can accomplish those things in us through His power.
What is God calling you to that would take you out of your comfort zone?
 • The comfort zone of life as it is – why rock the boat, life is pretty good. • The comfort zone of relationships – if I follow Christ someone may reject me or not want me. • The comfort zone of old attitudes – if I follow Christ I will have to let go of my bitterness, jealousy, etc…
Joshua and Caleb knew that the only safe place in life is where God is, and God is not inside your comfort zone! Hear His call to you today to step out of your “comfort zone” into the “faith zone.” Let’s partner with Him for the supernatural to take place around us.

Our twenty-first annual Discipleship Weekend was held at Springville Camp and Conference Center the weekend of January 12-14, 2018. This year was a great success with attendance of approximately 550 students and leaders from across the state. Our speaker, Terry Parkman, did an outstanding job teaching our students, and challenging our youth leaders throughout the weekend. His infectious spirit and communication style connected with the audience in a profound way. In addition, Garrett Serban led us in praise and worship and did a wonderful job of ministering to our camp and bringing us into God’s presence with music. The 23 small group sessions, led by our youth leaders across the state, gave our students several opportunities for intensive bible study. Matt Baker, lead youth pastor at Christian Life Church in Orange Beach, taught the leaders small group session and brought much insightful information to them. We also commissioned Campus Missionaries from schools all over the state. Special thanks to Jimmy Watson, who organized all of our student small groups, and to all the Deeper staff for their assistance throughout the weekend. We received many positive reports from both students and leaders on the tremendous impact this weekend has had on their lives, and look forward to hearing testimonies from our Alabama students.
