WELCOME
TO THE 23RD ANNUAL NORTH STAR CLASSIC SHOW + SALE
HELLO CATTLEMEN & WOMEN!
Welcome back to the North Star Classic for our 23rd year here at the ND Winter Show Event Center. We are looking forward to a phenomenal year, as we continue to grow and build on our past successes.
As I go into my 2nd season with the Winter Show, I cannot help but be a bit humbled by all the good things that we do around here. We had a great Winter Show in March this year, with record attendances, sold out PRCA Rodeos and more food and exhibitors than ever before. It was fun. Just plain fun. The arena was decorated with banners as in years past, and the atmosphere was alive with fair goers!
As we head into North Star Classic, Kelcey Hoffmann & Jaci Cargo are back with us as the NSC Event Coordinators, and they, along with their crew, are working tirelessly in planning this year’s Classic for you all to enjoy. I would like to personally thank the businesses, cattlemen and ranches that sponsored, advertised, and donated. There are some great packages available to purchase during the Cattleman’s Ball & Sale, get your bidding hands ready! This event could not happen without your support.
This will be a great weekend for our cattle and ag industry. I hope you all enjoy seeing old & new friends, do some shopping at our Country Christmas vendor show and enjoy the various breed shows & sales. There are a few new sponsors and some added awards that will be floating around. I hope you enjoy it all! We are so happy to have the barn filled with cattle and to have you all participating!
Thanks again and see you soon!
BRANDEE D. MOORE
GREETINGS FELLOW LIVESTOCK SUPPORTERS!
New Look, same great traditions. With great pride, we invite you to the 2022 North Star Classic. While we’ve updated our logo, the values, and traditions that make the NSC the place you want to be will always stay the same.
Still holding true to being the largest cattle show in North Dakota, the Open Show will lead off this year’s event on Friday, December 2nd. That evening, we welcome all to gather for the Cattlemen’s Ball & Sale where we will celebrate our 2022 Livestock Honoree, Steve Wolff. The ball will again have a Prime Rib dinner, many door prizes, and a raffle drawing of $6,250.00. The Country Christmas Vendor Show will be open for business, so bring those Christmas lists. New this year, a casino night to enjoy as the sale wraps up!
The Cattlemen’s Ball Sale features several elite cattle lots as well as a few memory-making packages. On behalf of the Livestock Committee, we would like to thank our Cattlemen’s Ball consignors: Nord Angus, Five Star Ranch, Jungels Shorthorn Farm, Polzin Cattle and Twedt Red Angus for their consignments. We would also like to thank those that donated trips and merchandise to make sure this is a don’t miss auction for anyone.
Saturday will kick off a weekend for our young livestock enthusiasts! Please, join us for a Fitting Clinic, Farm Safety Bash, NDJPSA Awards Banquet, Fairest of them all Show & showmanship. Saturday will also feature the Pen Show and North Star Classic & Hereford Sale. Rounding out the weekend on Sunday will be the Junior Show as well as the Ag Country Steer & Heifer Showdown.
The North Star Classic is certainly one of our favorite times of the year, and we look forward to doing our best to make it one of yours, too!
We’ll meet you in the barn, KELCEY & JACI

HEIFER
This Heat Wave 1 heifer is square in her build, big over her top and about as freaky through her front 1/3 as I’ve ever seen. She’s sound made with good feet and legs. She’s backed by a cow that’s old school cool and produces every year. A Hereford marked heifer that will be really good with feed and time. For an advanced showman!
If you are looking for a registered breed steer with loads of potential take a hard look at this guy. His pedigree is packed with cattle that have dominated the show ring with multiple sisters going on to win Champion or Reserve at numerous shows such as NWSS, Royal, state fairs, and many others. It’s easy to see the family resemblance when analyzing this steer with his eyecatching front end and well-balanced phenotype. Get this guy on the right program and the sky is the limit.

The North Dakota Stockmenʼs Associationʼs headquarters is the home and command post of the 93-year-old organization. Members were proud to erect its current building in 1974, and it has served the organization well over nearly 50 years. Since then, the NDSA has grown in members and services and the Stockmenʼs Foundation was launched and functions out of this space.
Help us Honor the Past and Build for the Future!
The NDSA and NDSF are working together on a Building Campaign. The NDSA purchased a new lot in Bismarck in 2021. The plan is to build a new headquarters there. Fundraising has begun, and the goal is to break ground once two-thirds of the funding is raised. The proceeds from the sale of the existing building will also be applied to the purchase. The goal is to reach this threshold by Spring 2023.
Tax-deductible giving options, including cash, cattle and commodities, are available for this project. Call (701) 223-2522 or visit www.ndstockmen.org for more information. 407 S 2nd St. • Bismarck, ND 58504 (701) 223-2522 •www.ndstockmen.org

The most valuable cows in the Shorthorn breed reside just 20 miles due South of Valley City, ND. Proven time and again, JSF continues to break barriers in both the purebred and commercial realm for industry driven, REAL WORLD, Shorthorn and Shorthorn Influenced cattle. Prior to 2009, no major AI stud had procured a Shorthorn bull in 25 years. Since 2009, JSF has landed an astounding 7 SHORTHORN BULLS with major AI studs. Dams of several of these sires are now available to you, along with nearly 300 others, at your choice. At our annual Durham Nation fall production sale on November 5th of this year, 50 Shorthorn heifer calves averaged in excess of $5000, with both registered and commercial breds, as well as age advantaged bulls averaging in excess of $4200, grossing in excess of $753,000. The true highlight of this operation however is Durhams In the Dakotas, where, 100 Shorthorn and Shorthorn influenced yearling bulls go on the block. With great pleasure we are happy to be consigning again to the Cattlemen’s Ball Sale at the Northstar Classic. Last year we consigned Five Star Jasmine J18; a full sister to the eventual $65,000 sale highlight of Oak Meadow Farm’s 2022 Production Sale, Five Star Jackson J10. For 2022 we selected another purebred Simmental female from the top of our 2022 heifer calf class, Five Star Kadence K34. A direct daughter of Oak Meadow Farm’s $60,000 HIGH SELLING BULL, OMF Hard Right H21, selected by Hartman Cattle Co., CK Cattle, and Bowling Cattle. There are standout flush-mate full brothers to K34 that will without a doubt highlight Five Star’s offering in the 2023 Oak Meadow Farms Annual Production Sale. Her young dam has turned out some stunners in her first embryo calf crop. We find this female highly desirable in her hoof shape, heel depth and foot size. We love her density and LOOSENESS OF STRUCTURE. She’s a female that is massive in terms of her rib shape and pin width. Udder development is spot on with an EPD profile that ranks amongst the top of the breed. You hear it often, “another donor prospect”, but that’s exactly how we feel about Five Star Kadence K34. Her grandam’s on both sides of the pedigree have been fruitful

Selling the right to flush 417C to ANY BULL OF YOUR CHOICE. 417C was a cow we purchased for $25,000 at the U2 dispersion. She is turning into one of our top cows here at the ranch. With one daughter in production and 5 more in the bred heifer pen and 5 more in the replacement pen she is looking to make a huge impact in our program. She has an AWESOME UDDER and PERFECT FEET. One of her daughters sold in the North Dakota State red angus sale last December for $8500 to Feddes Cattle Co. in Montana. She has sons in the bull sale pen that will be SALE HIGHLIGHTS come February. She is open and we have been flushing her the last few months with her last 2 flushes being 15 and 13. We are guaranteeing a minimum of 7 embryos with an open top on the flush. Buyer can take the next available flush following the sale.
