A brand is a character that resembles the identity of a company. It is an essential part of a company that depicts the company and be distinguished in the market. A remarkable brand could give an impression and live in the customer’s mind for a long time. A good brand should represent the originality, personality, identity and uniqueness of the business. The overall look of a brand should inform the customer about the brand and its quality through the visual identity. If I had to name one favorite brand, it is the Apple Inc. company. It is simple and have its own character among its brand category. They choose apple because it is fun, spirited and not intimidating. The first apple logo depicts Sir Isaac Newton sitting under the tree, but then they changed the logo into a silhouette of a bitten apple in rainbow color. People said the bite was to represent computer and byte. However the designer, Rob Janoff, said it designed that way so it would not be confused with a cherry. It amazes me how such a logo leaves in customer’s mind. The logo is perhaps the reason why Apple has high level of brand loyalty for any products. Despite all their technology and gadgets updates, Apple still maintains the consistency of their advertising campaign with its logo and slogan. A good brand should last a long.



Oxford Hotel is a favorite choice among tourists and business travelers. Located in the heart of the city, it is close to major tourist attractions and central business district. Recently refurnished, this charming boutique hotel now sports a fresh, contemporary look and bright modern ambience. What remains unchanged is our friendly, personalized service which makes our guests feel at home.


THE BRAND


OXFORD DESIGN APPROACH The Oxford Hotel logo intended to make guests feel the freshness and friendliness while staying at the hotel. The new logo is now dark purple to depicts the royalty and sophistication of the hotel, and black is introduced as its seconday color as it means prestige, value and timelessness. The circle connotes the amiability of hotel staffs. The six lines crossing each other was designed to characterize the Union Jack. Its meeting point placed at the bottom right to represent the position of Oxford Hotel in Singapore map.

The logo created not single and not as a fixed logo. It may changes for each apllication. The logo comes in three different color in shades of purple so it becomes available for varieties of communities. However, the dark purple is the primary logo of all three. It is used for hotel identities such as the collateral.

The logo is applicable for both print and screen usage. It is to be used for printed collateral such as advertising, publication, packaging, flyer, poster and also screen work such as websites, presentations and banners. A small gap of 5mm is needed around every corner of the logo to give space and it is preferred to be used on white surface.
