#1 N A V A L F R O N T L I N E M U S E U M #1 Introducing the Royal Malaysian Navy to the public. The idea is to create a journey of programs, educating visitors about the importance of the national Navy, as they move from one space to another. Three main axis are obtained from the characteristics of the site. The first axis is for the tourists, the second for the public, and the third for the locals. The axis celebrates visitors from different backgrounds, allowing them to submerge into the building and enjoy the programs that were designed for each of them.

Geometric abstraction of the crystal (black tourmaline) is born from the idea of how the building becomes a sort of ‘awakening’. Visitors are reminded of how peaceful our country is now, thus awakening a sense of gratitude. Some vocabularies are chosen to represent the characteristics of the crystal along with a series of drawings and models. This helps shape the building and develop continuous ideas. Certain limitations are set in the idea development stage to maintain consistency.
Concept Drawing
‘‘The ‘Frontline’ was where battles were fought and fates decided. The ‘Frontline’ was a place of fear, struggle and suffering. It was also a place where victories were won, where friendship of a lifetime were forged in hardship. It was a place where we lived with a sense of purpose’’ Navy SEALs.
A series of development models and imagination on the interior
architecture of the building.

An exploded drawing of all the processes being layered in term of plan and elevation before being developed further and come up with final drawings. The intention is to welcome visitors into each entrance which has emerged from an empty land. The building is open to public from the ground level to the first floor, and is semi - public at the second and third floors. Water elements are placed within the building connecting to the sea. An open ramp toward the cafe acts as the center of interaction between the people from the outside and the i n s i d e .

#2 Quantization is the process of transitioning from a classical understanding to a newer understanding. The site located at Shah Alam’s Section 13, facing the Damansara River. The co-housing caters to residents of musician backgrounds. The concept for this co-house is digital modulation. The goal for this modulation is to increase interaction between users, whilst using the least amount of space possible. The design aims to achieve good interaction between residents, remarkable views, and also optimize wind flow. The idea is to have a communal garden courtyard, as well as individual inner courtyards for each unit. These act as central attraction points for the community.
11
Space study diagrams ‘‘I call architecture frozen music’’ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. To live within the music atmosphere and efficiently minimize the journey from point A to point B. The idea of maintaining the interaction with other people through music and always celebrate the nature that lies in between of the spaces.

#3 L I T T L E G I R L I N B L U E #3 A series of sketches are made during a studio trip to Georgetown, Penang. We are to create artwork that becomes the main idea behind the design. This artwork, named ‘Little Girl in Blue’ shows the concept of how the column supports the main arc in every facade of historical building in Penang.
Spaces are arranged according to the concept of load distribution. The main structure is supported by other sub-structures distributing the load equally. Hierarchy of arrangement is by interlocking the spaces. The structure that faces the main road becomes octagonal in shape to increase the angle of visibility. The complex form is derived from a basic shape by using the gridline method. The material of timber is beautifully enhanced the design.

#5 Fisher House by Louis Isadore Kahn. This house is designed to merge building with nature. A process of measuring nature was conducted at Gua Tempurung, Perak. Elements measured were sun orientation and wind flow, contours, which were traced with a grid system on site, along with vegetation and shadow mapping.
15
The relationships between the trees on site creates a unique shape, together with the ups and downs of the contour. These are the guidelines for building the solid form of the design. The grid lines obtained from the site’s contours are wrapped around the solid to create an envelope, leading to the final outcome of the design. This design is suspended from the ground to preserve the natural site as well as giving a calming effect to the user.
